1970 D-55 Advice!

This to me is a desirable guitar. Many luthiers do not believe cleats are necessary. But I see a $1000 repair bill, so it would have to be less than $1500 for me to bite. The treble being weak could well be a lousy break angle over the bridge. You can't replicate old wood like that. I obviously have a soft spot for 1970 guitars.

Yeah, sub-par repair and sloppy (repair) gluing of the braces in one picture.

I do agree with Br1ck, though. If I were buying this guitar, I'd definitely hope to show it the TLC it deserves. I think if you over-humidify this thing for a couple of weeks with the strings off, it'll take its shape back and you can begin the process of slowly repairing it to perfection. This *is* a sweet guitar, so ... ditto what he said.
