The Ace Deluxe strap was quite likely purchased at the same time as the guitar. Seller had it listed separate for $100 and was glad I bought it as there is a very clear imprints - twice - of this strap shoulder pad in the back of the guitar, typical "strap burn" reaction with nitro finish that has crazed in a beautiful way.

A genuine relic.

Very light weight, resonant. More or less a museum piece.

Also unusual is the very deluxe hardcase paired with what was a entry level guitar.

Entry level guitars back then were really something compared to now.

Tuners are good.

Pots are stiff like new and quiet.

Such quality.

This is an alder body, and comparing it to a Mahogany body S-50 I had at the same time, I just had to keep this one. It was lighter, with fuller tone. As usual the Mahogany had a bit more bark.

These guitars sound fabulous clean, potentially awful with overdrive. The placement of the pickup is not conducive to high gain tones, same can be said of all mid or so mounted single pickup guitars of the 60's, they sound joyous clean, not so good overdriven, too flabby.

However, if you have an amp that is ice picky bright, this would work, as well as any good treble booster.

I find the tone knob to be subtle and mysteriously like a 2nd volume control with different properties than the Master Volume knob.

The Burst is very pleasing.

The headstock shape is wonderful.

Original nut still has paint finish on the sides.

100% original.

The pickup is CRAZY LOUD through my '66 Ampeg ReverbeRocket with gobs of clean headroom, much louder than a Strat.

This is a beautiful guitar and one that ,with one pup, matches my liking of simplicity.
I have a Fender Japan blue flower strat (2002?, iirc).
I only ever use the neck pickup.

i have 3 of these and have owned/played a couple others. they are some of the best sounding and playing guitars out there. actually a lot nicer than the Polara and thunderbird without the kickstand and all those switches, if u ask me.

a little confused about the comment that they are potentially awful with overdrive though. these are widely aknowledged to sound amazing with overdrive/distortion. just check utube! mine are no differnet. maybe u finally found an amp that is not compatable? like a modern hi gain? no issues with some boss pedals and a fender tube amp! or with the maverick! glwts!!

Is that a single coil pickup? What do they sound like?
Yes, it's a single coil that sounds like an underwound P-90 - bright and chimey, but if you dig in it will growl (but not as thick or hot as a vintage P-90). It's a really great pickup and I wish more of my Guilds had them.

If I wasn't closing on a house this week...

Just take the optimistic point of view - how deep would this one be in your review pile? 😏

Don't get me wrong - I really like them reviews 😍

My only two Strats but I don’t think I’d trade the blue flower, and I’m sure you are not into 8-strings!

Someone made an offer on Reverb, so I went to look at the prices of others, and mine is the nicest on Reverb, with some of the other prices way higher than mine. Just on principle, I couldn't do it, but I don't play it, so it would be nice to see it get some love.

I’m surprised no one here snapped it up already! It is the best looking one I’ve ever seen!
