I looked at the pics and think that the pic of the back of the neck has different tuners than the ones showing the front. Even though I like a lot of the "Guild ancestor" Epi archops (and have owned one), I think this is a little high price.
What say all of you?

Definitely. That's not even the same headstock. You can tell it's more like a 50's Guild or Gibson as opposed to the 50's Epiphone headstock. That's sketchy.

I love old Epi's too. I would love to have a late 30's Deluxe one day. They are always expensive though. And of course I missed out on one that sold pretty cheap recently. :x

that is just a wrong pic, it is not the same neck (black neckplate in stead of white)

on the 30s Deluxe: you mean the refinned blonde that recently was on ebay ? I missed out on that too because the seller would not ship internationally.... :(

Yeah, I had a late 40s Zephyr Deluxe Regent, traded it for my Mark V around 1975,and even though it would fetch a lot more than the Mark, I'm glad I made the trade. Still, I'll probably pick up an old Epi acoustic Archtop at some point.

No, it was a '38 sunburst. It was in New Orleans too. I go there all the time and could have picked it up myself. It had had a neck reset and some big cracks that had been repaired, but everything looked good. It had the original finish. I think the only thing that was not original were the tuners. The seller originally put it up with a BIN of $2750 and a starting bid of $2000. I debated doing the BIN, and even talked to the seller a good bit about it. Ultimately, I just decided to place the first bid and see how it goes. The highest I bid was $2300 and it sold for $2500. In hindsight I should have done the BIN or placed a higher bid. Considering those sometimes sell over $4000 or $5000, that was a good deal. It definitely wasn't a mint '38 Deluxe, but it was a decent bargain. The finish was gorgeous.
