Will work on it…as three single coils, more strat like with funky shape. I have an X-80 that is more shredder….the other X-79 will have new pickups (read not originals when i bought it)…JB in bridge and Jazz in neck…more classic rock set up for that one.

Best research on the neck pickup without taking it out, looks like. Dimarzio DP155…at 16k, it’s a bridge pickup…people just put crap in…well that will be coming out. If the bridge is an XR-7, might just move that to neck and put in a JB I have around…will see

    NGD X-79

I read it wrong…so they put the 16k in the neck (fyi I hate it)….but chances are they will both be replaced. SD SH-2 (Jazz in neck) and SH-4 JB in bridge…

    NGD X-79

They are claiming both pickups were replaced…the bridge measured 16k on their meter…that sounds too hot for XR7..but when I get done playing with her for a bit, will check out and take pics of back of pickups for ID…neck PU looks funky, almost like a rail on half…

    NGD X-79

Well…I figured since I already have an X-80 and an X-79-3….let’s go for a regular X-79. Earlier model with chesterfield headstock (AD100099) (Am stuck in the 80’s with these pointy guitars, but not a headbanger) Needs a bit of cosmetic work like a repaint on the headstock and new pickguard made...

    X-79 and X-80 questions

On the various pricing sheets on X-79’s, only in 1983 was the X-79-3 listed…would that imply that was the only year they were produced? Does anyone have a serial # of the X-79-3 that is NOt 1983?

    X-79 and X-80 questions

As I have both an X-80 and X-79-3….been wondering… We know about 1,800 of the X-79’s we’re produced….I wonder (ballpark estimate), what percentage of those 1,800 were the Double HB with standard bridge, Double HB with Kahler and the three single coil version. I would say 60-30-10 percent on...
