Bringing a Starfire back to life.

Sounds like you need to post detailed pictures of what you have so you can get the correct advice. Maybe this or maybe that won’t cut it, let’s see what you’ve got :)

Repair method for bracing coming unglued ?

so I went for a string change on my JF30-12 and noticed a peculiar issue. The top seems sunken in a bit between the bridge and the soundhole. Weirdly it’s just in front of the bridge, behind the bridge the top is opposite, has a nice arch. I ran a straightedge across the frets to the...

    Guild D55 Help!

wow, that didn't take long; both for hans to identify the year, and then for it to be put up for sale :ROFLMAO:

Has the price of low end Guilds gone up recently?

I think it’s all relative, today’s $1,000 is last years $500. I agree with everyone else; patience and persistence, just bide your time, and the right deal will present itself.

What acoustic are you playing today?

That is a scrumptious 12er, for me begs the question; what would be the first thing I play on that if it was handed to me for a test run?

What acoustic are you playing today?

I’ve got my F30 out since I wanted to see how the new Thalia G-shield rosewood TRC looks. I’m not blown away since it’s not a good enough match to the headstock veneer, but it’s better than the plain black one that came with it stock, like you see in my avatar. This is such a fun guitar too...

    Dickey Betts dies at 80

RIP Dickey. Might not’ve been a Gov’t Mule if not for him. 2/3 of the original Mule are on this record, with his homage to Duane on this rocking tune here:

What acoustic are you playing today?

I decided to learn how to play fingerstyle about a year or so ago, if for nothing else, if someone handed me a guitar when I didn’t have a pick on me I could still play something without looking flummoxed. I started with just these two videos and away I went. Now ffwd to these days, and I...

Are Guild "metal" guitars any good?

Any guitar can be a “ metal” guitar. Basically like GAD says you’ve just gotta have chops. A telecaster is not known as a metal guitar, but just play metal type music on it and voila, it’ll chug 😉

Private equity and the music business

I happen to like KISS and am not ashamed to say so. KISS is a very underated band, and I'm guesing most people that dislike them see the makeup and think gimmick, can't have talent. You don't last 50 years in the business if you're not talented, just saying.

I just noticed they now have the polyfoam cases available online, I can’t recall who was looking for one: https://shop.guildguitars.com/westerly-collection-acoustic-polyfoam-case/

Are Guild "metal" guitars any good?

That’s always used to refer to a Stratocaster shaped body, hence the S. That’s why an S100 is not an “s” type.

    Open mic nite(s)

True that, got a friend with a karaoke business, got hit hard with fees, stopped offering those songs as options.

    Open mic nite(s)

I don’t know that covers are any better than originals in the open mic setting, but I always thought the point of an open mic was for people to try out their original stuff 🤷‍♂️ I guess it depends on the nature of the open mic. I mean if there is a combination of things people are getting up...

    My acoustic 6 string.

The first Guild I played and then bought was a D46, still one of my favorites.
