We really need an answer to this....

Bit of a veer, but are you suggesting that the Westerly Collection guitars are significantly more expensive to refret? If so, I'm curious why that is - poly finish on the neck? Relevant to my interests as I've got two of them (no major issues so far!), one of which I play enough that it's going...

    Random Guild on Video Sightings

Not my favorite Mountain Goats video, but it's the only one I've seen where John Darnielle is playing this guitar - I think it might be a D-40 from a time when they were made without the Chesterfield?

    Band and Orchestra Members

I've played violin since I was a kid, and viola since high school. Played in school/youth/college orchestras, and more recently in a local community orchestra, mostly on viola. I'm taking a break from the orchestra and have been enjoying playing chamber music more lately, but I'm sure I'll come...

    Valencia, Aragon, Navarre, etc.

They're all regions of Spain, which has a long guitar-playing history, but other than that I don't know why they were chosen.

    New NS Model for 2024!

Something about the look of that finish makes me feel like I could tear through it and get at a better-looking guitar inside. Like it's black shrink-wrap or something.

Sold Sold- Left Handed 1970 S-100

I'm certainly not the authority on this but I don't think I've ever seen any objection to members posting non-Guild gear for sale. Someone just posted a Les Paul recently, for instance.

    Random Guild on Video Sightings

Looks like Olivia Rodrigo's bassist (Moa Munoz, according to the credits) is playing an SF-I bass here:

    Anybody else like classical music?

My favorite composer is Shostakovich, and my favorite piece of his is the Fifth Symphony: Other great pieces of his that I recommend checking out: Symphonies Nos. 10 and 13, String Quartet No. 8, Piano Trio No. 2, the Viola Sonata Britten's Violin Concerto is also very good:

    A Christmas Present To Myself

Usually, sure, but I think the natural ash back and sides on the D-46 look cool enough that I personally like the decision to leave them be on this one.

    What is your favorite acoustic?

Favorite that I've owned is my D-140. Favorite that I've played is probably a D-20, but I haven't played (or owned) nearly enough different ones!

    Closed Guild Pins

The pin is free, but the DV-72CL or DV-76 I'm going to have to get to match it won't be! I think I'm joking...for now... Thanks Aristera!

1512 truss rod repair/bolt on neck

It turns out that my 2016 F-1512 has two truss rods. Both nuts are very slightly recessed into the brace above the soundhole, less than half an inch from the top of the soundhole.

1512 truss rod repair/bolt on neck

If I remember, I can take a look at my F-1512 tomorrow and check how far back the truss rod nut is on it. Don't think I've needed to adjust it myself. Edit: I believe you're correct that it's a bolt-on neck.

    I'm crazy but a love these D140's

Wow, two of them! They are pretty nice!

I really love this guitar but...

I'm sure you'll explain the situation if you ever sell it, but when the next person sells it years from now, I imagine we'll all be scratching our heads looking at the Craigslist post and trying to figure out what model it is! (Or maybe we'll remember this thread 😀)

Dare I ask - What is your next Guild?

For me, probably a D-20; maybe another all-mahogany dreadnought or a Bluesbird. But it could definitely be something I'm not expecting! (And recently I've been thinking about a Les Paul, which might be more practical to get than another acoustic but would push my next Guild purchase out a good bit.)

    3rd times a charm...Hopefully

Best of luck with the surgery, and enjoy the D-140!

    GUILD D-15m

I remember him referring to a D-25BR, but I believe that was BR for brown finish rather than Brazilian rosewood, and that he had (or has) one of the all-mahogany versions of the model.

    New Westerly releases

I like to see it too! If this means the D-140 has been, or will be, getting into more people's hands, I think that's great - it's a really good guitar. The new colors look good too; I like the cherry burst though I probably still prefer the natural finish. I would have said they made an F-250...
