I just played one at my local store here in Austin. It is made in Korea, with gold hardware, the Soundgarden King Animal emblem on the truss rod cover, Kim Thayil's signature, and the Soundgarden circle logo on the back cavity plate.

I'm 45 now, started playing in 1992, and have always subscribed to the Neil Young approach. When you want to rock out, grab an electric (in my case, a hollow body Guild) and turn it up, and when you want to play nice introspective music, grab an acoustic and enjoy. Both are great!

I have played a reissue S-100 and I think they are fantastic for the money. In the past, I owned a Dearmond S-73, a really nice guitar, comparable to the Newark St. stuff. Personally, I was holding out, saving money for a 90's S-100 reissue, but I couldn't resist buying the '74 I just scored!

I have a black M-75 that I love. It's in the process of being turned into a Jr. style guitar with one humbucker in the bridge. The stock Goldtones are awesome, though I sold mine to help fund an S-100 purchase! I've owned it for about 3 years and paid $300 from Guitar Center, with a hard case...

The 90s Starfire that I have has an excellent neck. It's thin and narrow, which I love. It's a Starfire II with a Bigsby and it stays in tune very well, more so when strung with 10s than 11s.

I love those 70s Starfires. The necks are super fast on the ones I've played.
