    FS 1972 Guild D35

Moving to full-time mobile life and this guitar needs a home where it can get proper care. D35 serial # 64227, which I believe puts it in 1972. Bought it in upstate NY in 2019 - my first Guild - it was a mess. Sticky stuff all over the fretboard, bridge was lifted (I did not know what I was...

'72 D35 restoration tips: pickguard, tuners

Thanks, that does help. Still getting my head around all these little tips and tricks on maintenance and restoration. Trying the clamps & steam 'reset' on this guitar, we'll see how it goes.

'72 D35 restoration tips: pickguard, tuners

Currently in the process of getting a '72 D35 into proper playing shape. It's all original, I believe, open back tuners and tortoiseshell pickguard. Any recommendations on 1) dealing with the pickguard lifting at the corners and 2) with the loose buttons on the tuners. (They seem to hold tune...

D4-12 pickup - factory or what?

I thought K&K at first, but at least the modern ones all seem to be a stick-on. But I don't know much either! Definitely a passive pickup.

D4-12 pickup - factory or what?

I'm like that, except x20. Makes it easier to find them when I want one.

D4-12 pickup - factory or what?

Howdy all, Been happily playing a D4-12 since buying it fall of '21 in a craigslist deal in SE PA. I'd hat tip the member here who pointed out the listing if I knew how to find my old posts. Anyway, great guitar, basically new, and the previous owner, who had bought it at a LMS on consignment...

Your 12-string down and open tune setup knowledge, please

I didn't think about compensating needing to change for changing tunings. I like 13's on the high string on my 6 strings and will check out the String Joy sets, thanks.

Your 12-string down and open tune setup knowledge, please

Howdy folks, Recently got myself into a place where all the guitars can be out at once and am diving into some recording. Figuring out exactly how we want to go about setting up my modest array of Guild 12s for maximum tuning/tonal flexibility. The D4-12 has great action, got gigged in the...

    WTB Vintage Tube Practice Amp

The Pro Jr's a good deal similar to the Blues Jr, even simpler with 2 knobs. Scored a well gigged one for $250 and they pop up in your area under $500 fairly regularly. Rips with a Tele. And they come in tweed if you're patient or go straight to sweetwater et al.

Where in Florida does a poor boy play in the wintertime?

Looking for any and all suggestions about potential gigging on short notice or busking spots in Florida in the wintertime. Bought the bus, signed up to volunteer for some festivals, guessing I should probably make enough to pay for diesel to get back to the NE in time to keep a good woman happy...

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

I'm sure everyone will be happy to know that I found a local option thanks to a tip on the for sale forum from @gjmalcyon A mid-90s D4-12, with OHSC and the seller wasn't even aware it had a passive pickup installed. Pristine condition. Not quite as much in-your-face jangle as the G312, but...

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

Has anyone played the 2612? It's hard to find 12 strings on the wall in the wild ...

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

The Guilds both when I've traveled with them have been impressively solid in the tuning department. I'm hoping that any solid/laminate import could come close, accepting that I'm not going to play it in direct rainstorms. Aiming for a winner in the "if it's lost/stolen/beat up not going to cry...

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

Those sunburst jumbo RainSongs look real nice. Definitely not backpack guitars. And costing new more than I paid for the bus. The last backpacking overnight I did, took as an opportunity to work on harmonica. That's the best ultralight solution I've found so far.

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

I do like the look of the 2512 and I admit the cutaway is tempting. Not seeing many of the cutaways pop up used yet. Maybe one will come around soon. Or Gary can lend me that one out for a roadworthiness test, seems like he's got some others to keep him busy, right?

What $500 and under 12-string acoustic/electric to save my old Guilds the stresses of bus living?

I'm lucky to have two old Guild 12-strings, a '65 F212 Hoboken-built and a '78 G312. Upon getting an old neck break re-repaired on the G312, the luthier was supposed to put a K&K in there. I've thought of that as my performance guitar. Thinking about my itinerant lifestyle - just bought a short...

All of your '66 XII Starfire knowledge, plz

Mine's joined at the 18th fret. I saw that info a couple places when looking at it - was that a mid-year production change on all Starfires 'round then?

All of your '66 XII Starfire knowledge, plz

Hey folks, Recently took an ebay flyer on a '66 XII Starfire. Absolutely thrilled about the action on the 9 extant strings out of the box and I'm fairly certain the disclosed neck break might just be some finish cracks from a little bit of stress here and there. A couple of questions for those...
