    80’s D-25 vs 70’s

Didn’t the bracing patterns change as with the rest of the line up?

What model solid body is this?

Off topic but I own a Yamaha PG-1 preamp rack that the seller claimed belonged to Claydes Charles Smith.

    D40-12 ...

The neck block had shifted at one point. It’s a cool rarity but I don’t know if it’s enough to command a premium especially given the repairs on it.

    D25 price increases.

I think it’s not just D-25’s but the vintage market and old Guild stuff in general. But if you don’t mind a more utilitarian guitar the D-4 can still be had for a bargain but they’re getting at that age where a couple of them need neck resets. I have a D-25 from 1986 that’s a lovely guitar.

    NGD 1964 Gretsch corvette

Is it dive only on those? I try to use it like I would a Bigsby and it seems to not float just only dive down in pitch

    NGD 1964 Gretsch corvette

Feels like a cross between a SG and a melody maker with a dash of Gretsch quirks.

    Guild D48?

So basically a F48 and a D40 loved each other very much and had a baby

    70s D40 didn't work out...so I bought another 70s D40

I was fixing to say the 70’s bursts seem more yellow in the center iirc

    Tom Bukovac on Guild

And when I do tip people off on how they’re a bargain on the vintage market I end up turning a few of them into believers.

    Tom Bukovac on Guild

That’s generally the consensus I hear on the topic of Guild’s. I think even Bonamassa stated what Guild was the few companies that retained QC during the guitar manufacturing malaise of the 70’s.

As I understand the FG-580 was handmade in Japan

70’s Yamaha FG-580. The Cadillac of the FG line

It’s a beautifully balanced guitar. Not too unlike my DV52

70’s Yamaha FG-580. The Cadillac of the FG line

Picked up at the pawnshop this afternoon for 4 bills and the action was still good. Solid top with what is rumored to be Brazilian rosewood B+S a lovely grain and I think the finish maybe nitro with the little checking lines. This thing has low end that hits like a loaded Mack truck

Dare I ask - What is your next Guild?

    Either a M75 M80 or a maple back D-60

1990s D-60, anyone know much about these?

I was shocked the D100 there didn’t do much for me. Felt like my D-35 and DV-52 sounded better to my ears but that D-60 floored me which is bizarre because I been at odds with my 77’ G-37 which is pretty close to being the same guitar minus the ebony appointments and fancier inlay

1990s D-60, anyone know much about these?

I played that same D-60. Between that and the M-20 that was probably the best sounding Guild they had

    Thunderbird kickstand

So does the hinge just flip around loosely in the back and they rely on your gut to keep it in place when playing?

Are these the End Times? Trogly reviews a Guild guitar!

It’s typically like that for anything nonFender and Gibson.
