Your favorite picture(s) of an artist playing a Guild?

Sara Hickman. I bought this CD after seeing her open for Nanci Griffith in 1995.

Oh right. It’s my 12 string that I never corrected…..

This guitar has been discussed here and here. And here's my Reverb ad. These NH F-50's seem to get a lot of love on LTG. It's a great guitar. But I need to stop buying guitars with a 1 11/16" nut. I ended up with a Hummingbird with a 1 3/4" and 24 3/4" scale, which is just a more different...

    New member, new to Guilds!

Congrats! The X-175B was my gateway into Guild archtops too.

Anyone Here Ever Take Voice Lessons?

I've been taking singing lessons for three years. I don't gig. I play with my duo partner in my home studio. We write songs and record. Shortly after I started taking singing lessons, I'd listen to recordings and realize I was not singing on pitch. I didn't even know that until I took...

    Would it be sacrilege….

I recently bought a new Custom Shop Hummingbird. It's mahogany. It has the "thermally aged top". Which I thought was a gimmick so Gibson could charge over $1K more. But as I listened to a bunch of videos, I was annoyed that I could really hear the difference between this custom shop model...

PA gear: What brands do you like? Dislike? Why?

I only play at low volume in my home studio. I started with 2X Behringer Eurolive B210D 200W 10". Then upgraded to 2X QSC CP12 1000W 12". I made the switch because I wanted the 12". The QSC is significantly warmer and fuller and left the Behringer sounding tinny in comparison. I'm only...

How do you prefer to amplify?

Whenever I listen to videos of pickups, they sound dark/nasal like this at best. Awful quack at worst. This includes videos I've watched of the LR Baggs Anthem. In my setup, the Anthem sounds great. But I'm at low volume in a home studio and can blend the tru mic without worrying about feedback.

How do you prefer to amplify?

I've tried the K&K through a Boss AD-2. The AD-2 helped, but the sound still quacked.

How do you prefer to amplify?

I only play in my home studio. I tried an SM57 but it felt too rigid having to keep the guitar in the same place all the time. I've tried various pickups, and the only one I like is the LR Baggs Anthem, plugged straight into my mixer. To my ear it sounds pretty much identical to the acoustic...

    JF55-12 vs F-412 video

Yep. I replaced the JF55-12 I sold to Rich with an Oxnard F-512 rosewood. I prefer the slimmer neck of the Oxnard (single truss rod) and the greater resonance is a better fit for my soft thumb strumming style.

    JF55-12 vs F-412 video

Great playing, Rich! I'm so glad my JF55-12 found the right home. If I could play like that, I'd probably have kept it. :ROFLMAO: I like the warmth of the rosewood to accompany singing, but those articulate bass notes on the maple are so sweet as a solo instrument.

Apparently I don’t check LTG frequently enough. I just missed out on my dream Guild acoustic. Congrats to you both!!!

Bono and The Edge on NPR Tiny Desk today

Edge hitched up the wrong guitar trailer. I recently rewatched the 1993 ZooTV concert and am still blown away. I don't play with pedals, but synching all that delay with the music seems harder not easier to me. I didn't have an appreciation for Edge's GAS when I first saw it 30 years ago...

    RIP Steve Mackey, Pulp bassist

I love Pulp. When I was young I'd go bonkers dancing to Disco 2000. So many good songs.

In Your Words, Can You Describe The Tonal Differences Between Jumbo Rosewood and Maple?

I have a Gibson SJ-200, solid maple back and sides. The rapid decay of the bass notes is something I love about this guitar for accompanying voice. It reminds me of a quote that went something like "music without space is just noise piling up on itself". If I was allowed two guitars, I'd pick...

    Rosewood Dread Comparison

I sold my Oxnard D-55 after I took a flyer on a 2004 Gibson Songwriter used from GC for $1,500. The main reason was the wider nut on the Songwriter. The D-55 wasn't as loud, and I found the tone smoother and more balanced. I liked the D-55 better for accompanying voice. The Songwriter is...

    Westerly Collection F1512 question

I had one that sounded similar to what you describe. Of the 5 Guild 12-strings I've owned, it was the least appealing tone-wise, including the cheaper F-2512. Others here have raved about their F-1512's. I have no idea if it's a design issue, or just variation between guitars.
