I've had my 88 since 92, played it at church every Sunday for 25 years. Wouldn't part with it! There were times when I unplugged it as volume wise iin a smaller room it had plenty of volume.
I had a bad experience trying to have a similar scratch on the lower bout of my D25m repaired. Whatever they used reacted with the finish and caused an even bigger issue. They ended up sending it out to another shop and finally stabilized it. they were great about it, didn't charge me, but it...
Albany, Oregon. Summer concert series called "River Rythms" Probably early 90's. For a number of years they drew really great talent. Ladysmith Black Mambazo was another great show. Dixie Chicks just before they hit it big. Still goes on today!
Years ago, I saw Leo Kottke and Ritchie Havens at the same small outdoor show (for free!). The guitar playing was great but the stories and the show were what I really remember. Can't be them so I have to be me lol.
When I bought my D25M I knew nothing about the differences in the D25 lineage. Thought that the top on mine was hog due to the dark stain. what model is yours per label etc?
I played at church every Sunday for a lot of years. Had a piezo in my D25, switched to a K&K pure mini. It gave the most natural sound direct through the sound board. Easy to install and requires no modification other than the endpin for the jack.
If your great garage sale find is comfortable to play you will find that any guitar you buy on a budget will disappoint. Most of us started with cheap and dreamed of the guitar you have:)
Ha - That’s right about the time I bought a Gibson Heritage in Eugene, I kid you not! Still have some old Polaroid pics of it around here somewhere, and it was a very nice guitar.
I saw it in a place called the Sun Shop just off the U of O campus. Coolest place to hang out at the time.
In 1975 I played a Gibson Heritage Deluxe in a shop in Eugene. Can't remember the price but it was perfect! Walked out and never saw it again. The stuff dreams are made of.
Changed mine on my 1988 d25m to gotohs about 20 yrs back. Thought I would have to get a reamer but the holes were correct after the bushings on the originals were taken out. Peasant surprise!
Heading out to pick up my guitar. All fixed and ready to go. Not sure about forum rules but I will post the name of the shop if allowed. Great guy and a one week turn around. Glued and cleated, looks great!
Fortunately it really is just a crack in the side from the compression caused by my elbow hitting the top of the guitar. Crack is tight and just barely offset. Haven't played it since I cracked it. Should be clean other than a couple of shed tears lol. Headed to Eugene today to the guitar doctor.
Spoke with the shop that will do the work, taking it in Friday so he can see it in person. Sounds like it is straightforward fix. Does have a couple of dings so this will add a little more character. Thanks for the reassurance😊.
Thanks for the welcome, I hope to hang around and gather some info. I've owned this guitar for almost 30 years and would never think of parting with it. I haven't set up to post pics yet. My hope is that I can get it stable for the next 30 years.
First post, so hi everyone. Hit the top of my 1988 D25m and cracked the side. About 5" closed crack between the bouts and 3/4-1" below the top. Already have a luthier picked out, but would appreciate knowledge on how this will turn out. Thanks
