Been watching British detective shows on Prime…

I discovered Death in Paradise a few months ago. I was trying to find something worth watching to avoid all of the crap in politics, sports, media, et al these days. It was a fun escape. Tho I think it lost its magic with the last couple of guys. It's weird how everyone eventually leaves that...

    Best Guild Investment?

If I were buying a guitar for an investment, I wouldn't buy a Guild at all. It's too niche and the fact that the company changed hands so many times makes appraising them harder. In general, I would say that Vintage is the way to go, and you would want a vintage guitar that was played by someone...

    Guild on Mister Roger's

Thanks, you saved me from digging that up. Joe Negri gave guitar lessons at Carnegie Mellon University into his '90s. His Guild was what he took when he was "slumming" it. But he did call it a great guitar.

Rules for church worship music leaders

This is more Contemporary Christian than Worship music (slight difference) but I thought these guys nailed it:

    Rare Vintage Guild on YouTube

This has probably been posted, but I looked for it, and didn't see it, so here it is just in case... I thought this was an interesting video, and had a good time watching it...

Ok...Enough is enough. Ready to upgrade to a better beer. Done with the macro-swill...

I think you're selling it a bit short... But that being said, I do prefer Shiner Bock, I must admit.

Yuengling... America's Oldest brewery. And, just a little over an hour away from the birth of the dreadnaught guitar. Founded just about the same time (shortly after America's Independence?) Coincidence...?

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

I should have said: "a simplified version" is am/em. And Joshua fought the battle of Jericho can be played with Dm and A7.. also not too tough!

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

The Yamaha seems to be getting lots of love! I have not ruled that out for certain, it's still very much a contender. And, yes, they'll be taking them home so a gig Bag is a necessity. Bag/case, capo, spare set of strings and snark, are all standard equipment IMHO. If the kids have half the...

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

I've never even heard of this guitar. I'll check it out. Thx.

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

Long story there. But we're an odd church. No one gets paid, so we keep costs down. We were saving up thinking we were going to buy a building in the area (we rent now) but that fell through. And I see all of this money in our account and thought, "Well, the church is the people anyway, not the...

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

Wow. So much good feedback. Thanks! A couple of other comments... Both kids are boys. We don't have a music store that really deals in these kinds of guitars. Guitar Center is a ghost town these days. Half their stock has to be depleted. And they push their starter kits -- and I'm not...

What Guitar Would You Choose to Teach A 13-yr old Guitar?

There are a couple of kids in our church that have been asking me about learning to play the guitar. One's a smallish 13 year old and one is a bigger 12 year old... so both about the same size I guess. I learned on a horrible Stella guitar. I have no idea if Stella makes a good guitar or not...

Stuart Day's Review of the Aristocrat HH (Trans Black)

What does "inspection" mean though? Sweetwater put this guitar through it's legendary 55 Point Inspection, and it still shipped with high frets and a switch that did not work correctly. If you simply look at fit and finish, the guitar was great. If you put a straight edge on each fret and check...

Stuart Day's Review of the Aristocrat HH (Trans Black)

Well I would say yes and no on that. If you're going to claim you're doing a 55 point inspection, then something like a buzz on a pickup may have been the manufacturer's fault, but it should be caught in your inspection, and then either fixed, or that guitar should not ship. I would also say...

Stuart Day's Review of the Aristocrat HH (Trans Black)

Opinions vary I guess. Some of the guys on here swear by them. My experience has been very mixed. I will say, my new rep is better. But, still honestly I'd rather buy from Guitar Center, if I can, since I can play it first and their return policy is second to none. Sweetwater tries to make...

Stuart Day's Review of the Aristocrat HH (Trans Black)

Stuart Day, acclaimed luthier from New Galilee, PA, reviews the Guild Aristocrat HH (Trans Black) Spoiler alert -- he likes it, saying "This is a great guitar, man, for the price point I don't think you're going to find a better fit and finish, to be honest..." And, yes, this is my...

Stuart Day Reviewed my "Signature" Guild Savoy 150A

Wonder why they took it away? (BTW, that harness is just the way it is now right? Not the harness with the tone control?)

Stuart Day Reviewed my "Signature" Guild Savoy 150A

He didn't do it, because I didn't ask him to (meaning I didn't pay him to). His comments on the guitar was just he wished it came with one. (which, I think, it now does.) It's a fair point that I have seen a lot of reviewers make.
