    Happy Birthday Frono!

I don't know how I missed it. (How did we miss it?) Yesterday was Frono's birthday and we missed it. Nobody knows where he comes from or how old he is (we actually do) but we all suspect that his ding-dong is enormous and frightening. Everyone wish Frono a Happy Birthday!

    Happy Birthday GAD!

I noticed your icon at the bottom of the page identifying members' birthdays. Not everyone deserves a Happy Birthday thread, but I think we can afford the bandwidth for you!

    Is it a sign?

I've been checking every grocery store and pharmacy that I enter since March for a bottle of isopropyl alcohol. Today, I found one in my local Wegmans. Actually, there were three bottles on the shelf, but I only took one.

Tipping protocol at curb side pickup

I filled an online cart at my grocery store. When I went to curb-side pickup, I gave the woman with my groceries a $5 tip. I did get out of the car, but only to open the hatchback. I'm no aristocrat used to tipping servants, but it seemed appropriate. Not sure what the protocol is...

Does a neck reset fix the real problem

Whenever we look at vintage - or even just old - Guilds we always look at the action and how much saddle is left. Because we know (assume) that a neck reset will be inevitable some day. But when we reset the neck are we really fixing the problem or merely accommodating it? By that I mean, was it...

    What're you streaming today?

I was sitting in my underwear checking what's "popular on N*tflix" (and other streaming services) and I couldn't help but feel that most of it is dark and/or dangerous. Rife with violence and angst. So, I thought I'd start this thread to share more uplifting titles. What I'm watching tonight is...

    Detonator!

So I bought a Detonator, not because I need it but because it was cheap and that's my favorite feature in a guitar. Here's a sellers photo (Dave's Guitar.) It's not as though I'm going to take a better one: Anyway, I have a couple of questions. The first is about the truss rod cover, which...

    Guild Sighting: Caroline Smith

Looks like a very nice T100 played by a singer with a lovely voice. To be honest, I had never heard of her. She just popped up during one of those random YouTube surf sessions. I'm glad to have heard the video (I listen while at work with the youtube page minimized.) The Guild was an unexpected...

    Bajo-Jets need love too

It's just a Dearmond, not a real Guild, but it needs to be shown off somewhere. It's not an ordinary Jetstar, but a Bajo-Jet baritone guitar. Bajo is spanish for "low", so should probably be pronounced "bah-yo", but when I see the word I think of "banjo", which makes me think of Space Ghost...

Recommend me an inexpensive flattop with a removable neck.

So I've been thinking of doing evil experiments on innocent guitars. In particular, I want to set the neck of a flattop at a steeper-than-normal angle, add an appropriately taller-than-normal saddle, and string 'er up with lighter than normal strings. The idea, of course, is to have something...

Any dealers in the north east with actual stock?

I'd like to try out some new Aristocrats, but none of the "authorized Guild dealers" within 100 miles of me actually stock any Guilds. I would really like to walk into a store and see a selection of Aristocrats hanging on the wall for me to play. There must be someplace in or near NYC. I get...

So many 90s Bluesbirds in near new condition.

I review Ebay, CL, Reverb, etc. There's always a good selection of Westerly Bluesbirds from the 90s and early 00s and a majority of them are in excellent condition with more than a few appearing to be nearly unplayed. I don't remember seeing a single one that showed serious wear from heavy use...
