Starfire 1 DC (new ones) Are They Any Good?

I wasn't particularly impressed with them. The electronics are cheap, and the neck was miniscule. As was mentioned, the Korean guitars are better made. I have a NS Starfire IV that's a great guitar.

    Mississippi John Hurt Museum

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that people in Mississippi would burn down a museum cabin that once belonged to a talented black musician in this day and age. I guess violent racism isn't dead in the deep south yet. I thought those days were over. I guess not. The rest...

I need a semi-hollow in my life and am considering a Starfire. But which one?

I second that. I have the NS SF-IV with a stop tailpiece. Highly recommended.

    The Led Zeppelin Channel

Page was really enjoying playing with The Black Crowes, until Rich Robinson blew him off after Jimmy told him he'd like to write some songs with him. Can you imagine blowing Jimmy Page off like that? Jimmy packed up and quit the tour. I can't blame him. That was the stupidest thing Robinson...

John Entwistle's genius re the Bass, not actually how he started it out to be...

Pete is always a great interview subject. I did my interview with him via email. We never had a chance to actually speak, but he responded to everything I asked him, and eloquently.

    Frampton’s Guitars

When I met Peter years ago, I got to play his Phenix Les Paul, his Gretsch Duo Jet, and his Fiesta Red Stratocaster. Then, he took out a coffin-shaped case and showed me his Django Selmer.

A couple of Thunderbird like things

I have two T-Birds; a recent issue black one with all the switches, and the white one you have. I love them both. Years ago (decades ago), I had two original S-200s, both of which I sold.

    GuildQuest for my T100-D Continues

Rob, you are a very determined man. I would have just bought another one years ago. 🤪

    Sam Ash New Haven closing

You are right. Getting out of the lot was almost as treacherous as pulling in. There was no room for error. I stopped going there because it was so dangerous.

    One for Jorma /Airplane/Tuna fans

I knew Jorma played a Thunderbird in the early days of JA, as well as a Rickenbacker 360-12. They started out as a folk/rock band emulating the jangly Rick sound of The Byrds. You can hear that on the first album. Once they recorded Surrealistic Pillow, Jorma's Rick 12 disappeared forever.

    Sam Ash New Haven closing

The Ash store in Paramus, NJ closed a couple of years ago. It seems as if they're liquidating in preparation for going online only sales. The Paramus store had been going downhill for a long time. It was also located at a very dangerous spot on Route 4, where cars merge from an entrance ramp...

    Geddy Lee on King Crimson

King Crimson is the only prog band I can still listen to at all. They were always experimental, cerebral and intelligent.

    Band and Orchestra Members

If you are looking at the drums from the front, the snare, all the cymbals, hi-hats and rack tom(s) are on the left, and the floor tom(s) are on the right. Everything is reversed from a right-handed drumset.

    I bought a banjo.

Actually, I have a banjo too. It was my father's, a 1920s Vega Model M tenor. I thought about selling it, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I don't play it. God forbid.

    Band and Orchestra Members

I'm a right-handed drummer. His drumset was set up left-handed.

    I bought a banjo.

You bought a banjo? Remind me not to come to your house. ;) ;)

    Band and Orchestra Members

I played in the high school marching band, concert band, orchestra, wind ensemble and percussion ensemble for three years. I didn't play in the jazz band, because the bandleader was the top guy in the drum section, and he was left-handed, so I couldn't play his drums.

    Your First Motion Picture Seen

I don't remember the first one, but I saw War Of The Colossal Beast in a theatre in Brooklyn, NY at around seven, and it scared me silly. I have always liked Grade C horror movies ever since.

    New Gibson Pickup

My initial reaction is to say they're stupid expensive and Gibson is crazy, but I'll reserve judgement until I hear them. Still, a thousand bucks for a pair of pickups that probably cost them $50 a pair to make is steep.
