What was the best Guild acoustic you ever played or what Guild surprised you the most?

Surprised by liking an F 112 better than all the other 12 strings I'd played.

    70s/80s guilds…

I don't think that term is a dis. I don't think of a D 25 as the be all end all guitar of all time either. But if someone says they want a guitar you can hear in a jam, or gig outdoors all summer, take camping, and still have a good sounding guitar you love to play, the D 25 is my first choice...

    Help me out here, 1970s D-50 vs. 1980s D60

For that kind of money you can find all sorts of great guitars, even older ones with all the work already done. I don't see a Guild of any model being a true collectable. Maybe someone needs one to fill in a blank in his collection, but not a global desire to own one. Possibly an F 512 would...

    1977 Guild D25... Double checking...

I'm amused that a D 25 can be thought of as a great leap forward and a somewhat disposable knock about guitar at the same time. I'll admit, I treat my 70 D 35 as a camping companion. I'd also recommend it as a gigging machine. Really a historically important guitar.

    Help me out here, 1970s D-50 vs. 1980s D60

We are once again faced with the impossibility of describing sound verbally. Once upon a time someone who didn't like the abundantly resonant HD 35 called the sound muddy, while down the street someone was playing his and calling it warm and enveloping. Same sound. One man's thin is another's...

    70s/80s guilds…

72 is, I believe, the start of the heavy build era. Change is just that, change. Heavy brought durability, punchiness, bright and forceful tone. I can't imagine a better guitar to cut through a band than a mid 70s D 25. Take the modern D 18 in the same setting and watch it disappear in the...

    D 18 vs D 35

Unfortunately it is hard for anyone other than a store with a repair shop to get a decent deal on a Martin needing work. By deal I mean a fair price based on condition. When I tell a seller I'd have to spend a thousand at least to fix the guitar, I'm looked at as a lowball scammer. When a shop's...

    D 18 vs D 35

D 18s are going through the roof now. A 60s version will be $6000 easy, 50s are mid teens, Even 70s are $3500 if they've had a neck reset. Meanwhile, my Guild D 35 is maybe a $1500 guitar on a good day.

    Great vintage for Guilds. Enjoy.

    D 18 vs D 35

If you like the reimagined tone, it's very easy, just buy one. Modern building has created a consistency not to be seen in 60s-70s guitars, which had higher highs and lower lows. But find the higher high guitar and you might change your mind, or not as the case may be. Get a great D 18 and add...

    D 18 vs D 35

    The D 18 since 2012 is a guitar I don't care to own.

Found a decent (an cheap) hard case for my F-2512e

I bought an Everse 8 from Sweetwater, but the bag for it is too thin and ment to hold a bunch of other stuff. I wanted an easy carry. Had the rep check the QSC bag oe the K 8.1. Rep said two inches taller, but it had a velcro door enabling carrying by the Everse's handle and nice padding. Works...

    D 18 vs D 35

The first decade of the century produced some good Martins, and now they are getting some good age on them.

    D 18 vs D 35

While my musical style has changed, all those guitars I played from the used section at Gryphon gave me a huge understanding of guitar tone. Style changed from fingerstyle with rosewood (M 36) to flat picking with mahogany guitars. Went from the M 36 to a Martin D 35. I have four mahogany/spruce...

    D 18 vs D 35

I have very picky tastes when it comes to a guitar when I've played a good example. Now within that framework, I've played three over the last ten years. I bought the last one. And I gladly payed for it and will pay more when the neck has to be reset. I have never regretted paying top dollar for...

    D 18 vs D 35

I finally found a D 18 that fit my ears and my budget, so last night I got my 70 D 35 out to compare with my 74 D 18. Really two remarkably similar dreads. Since age is roughly the same it's a fair comparison. The Martin as you would expect is darker overall with more bass but not so drastic...

    1971 D25 Help!

My go to guy is trying to retire. Not taking the big jobs anymore. It's a shame because up until Oxnard, he was a Guild warranty center. It became not worth it anymore. He would not blink at a neck reset on a Guild.

    Price for 71s D44

The process of going to the extra effort to play a guitar is the real solution to buying a true keeper. Though I have played many guitars, there are many more I have not. I've come to terms with never playing everything and living in a guitar rich metro area, I can play plenty. In fact I don't...
