Difficulty adjusting Truss Rod on a D-1212 to lower the action.

I would suggest loosening at least some of the strings to give yourself less tension as you adjust the truss rod. Also, it appears that the truss rod adjustment is on the body side. I’d definitely try slacking the strings to give yourself more room to insert and turn the wrench.

    Bahamas’ Aristocrat

I saw Bahamas play solo in Boston a few years ago. Awesome.

    Guild S-100 Pre 1999 v 2013

Well… I have played many 90s era Guilds, but never an S-100. I did own what I think was a 1972 S-90 for a number of years and am now in the process of (hopefully) buying one of the NS S-100s. It feels, neck-wise more like the old guitars than any of the 90s-early 2000s Guilds that I’ve played. I...

These Newark Street Guilds are filled with surprises

I just stumbled upon this thread after playing a “new” trans red NS S-100. I think I’m about to trade a wonderful but HEAVY late 80s Epiphone Sheraton II to get it. Will report back. This one is quite lightweight and reminds me of my old S-90, but with a bigger and better neck (for me). We’ll see!

    NGD: S300

Sweet! Some day I would like to have an S-300 with HB-1s like that. Re: veer- I bet GAD prefers the -300, but he’ll have to explain or tell me I’m wrong :)

    Bad day!

How depressing! It does look (relatively) easily repairable at least.

I found string gauges that I like on my F-40T

I’ve literally been thinking about doing exactly that! I’ll report back when I finally do it either with my GF40 or GV52. The X-500 is happy with John Pearce 12s though. Edit: I’m especially tempted because I often play in open D and open G tunings on acoustic.

What Rig are you enjoying lately?

I’ll have to find some pictures of my current stuff. My first electric guitar is a 1990s Gibson Les Paul Studio in wine red (still have it!). My first amp was a Peavey Classic 20 (great amp thatI sold to get a terrible and heavy Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb). In the late 90s I also had a...

Tube/Valve prices in the USA... OUCH!

For the past 15 years, I’ve played my 1970ish Sano 160R pretty constantly I’ve had to replace the EL84s twice and maybe two 12AX7s. On cracked and turned white when it died, so that could have been trauma, not actual use that killed it! Otherwise it’s been rock solid.

    NGD Black S-300

    NGD: NS Starfire III Dynasonic

Very cool! If I hadn’t just dropped cash on a Goodsell Super 17 amp…. Must control the gas! Enjoy.

    X-150 and Masteramp archive video

Wow! I’ll be looking into those musicians now! Reminds me of Grant Green, but possibly even more present (and cranked overdriving amp). Very cool.

    NGD: 1959 Guild X-500 w/ DeArmond pickups

Welcome and congratulations on you purchase of such a cool old Guild X-500! Welcome to the club (I have a sunburst ‘68). I bet it sounds fantastic with the DeArmonds. It’s interesting to see the 3-ply plastic spacers under the pickups. Was that how they did it back then to mount DeArmonds...
