    Bisonic, different height chrome casing

The bridge pickup on my Hagström Coronado has a tad higher chrome casing than the neck pickup. See attached pic. The neck pickup is the ”standard” height as far as I know from my other bisonics, darkstars and Curtis Novak bisonics. Anyone seen this on a Guildor anywhere else?

Is it worth the hassle of rewiring?

Wow! How did you wire that? Separate or all together? Do you have the impedance selector switch? I have two of those pups somewhere for a project that never happened. Have a Gibson Triumph pup too.

Bisonic bezel size, Guild, Curtis Novak

    That could work!

Bisonic bezel size, Guild, Curtis Novak

Sounds like a good idea. I have made pickup rings for my Starfire in wood before. Haven’t seen any ABS clipboards here in Sweden though.

Bisonic bezel size, Guild, Curtis Novak

Now that you explained it, it seems so obvious that they are arched for their respective positions. Novak’s ring costs twice as much. This is for a Tractor modded jazz bass I just bought. The bisonic sits too low.

Bisonic bezel size, Guild, Curtis Novak

Two questions. Guild has two bezels for their bisonic, one neck and one bridge. Width and length is the same as far as I understand (99 x 73,5 mm). Is there any difference in thickness between the two? Will they fit Curtis Novacs bisonic?

I respectfully think you need to rethink your thoughts about that.

Most beautiful use of a Guild bass

There are great demos of The Lee Shore and Laughing out now with the Deja Vu 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition.

Most beautiful use of a Guild bass

Thanks for finding it on a more accessible media. Amazed that this was a demo made before CSN even existed but way better than the album verson imho. Crosby has said the same.

Most beautiful use of a Guild bass

Sure most of you heard it already but anyway, this must be the most beautiful use of a Guild bass. My love for Jack Casady is endless.

    Starfire tinkering continued

Yes, the Wahlschalter is potentially great. I have it but have yet to install it. If you happen upon a Villex mid boost at a fair price don’t hesitate. I have tried all sorts of varitones but ended up removing all but the Villex is a keeper.

    Flatwound strings, great article.

Interesting! I found those NOS Maximas on the bay and ordered a pack. I have always loved the sound of TI flats but oddly I never liked them on my SF. On my SF I have DR Legend, TI flats on my Gibson Les Paul Signature and my Hagström Coronado (with bisonics), Chromes on my Gibson Triumph and...

    Starfire tinkering continued

Yes, it is the Villex rotary switch I have. This one: http://www.villex.com/prtb.html It is a bit expensive but I was lucky to get one cheap on ebay years ago. Before that I tried all sorts of passive controls but in the end I never used them so I took them all out. Now I only have the Villex...

This is seriously the coolest thing I ever saw! If you are looking to get yet another knob, get yourself a Villex Mid Boost. I have one in my SF -69, always on full.

    Bisonic reissue video

Cool! Novak's BS sound best to my ears. Really fat sound with the top end still there.

What kind of rosewood on old Guild?

Does anyone know what kind of rosewood was used on Guild guitars in the 50s? Was it Dalbergia nigra (Brazilian rosewood) or some other kind? If braz it would mean CITES certificates are necessary when passing borders.
