Only a couple of giveaways that it's not just one board. This is why a stacked heel is common with Spanish cedar necks in the classical tradition; the grain/pores structure blends so well together. Mahogany is similar. Whereas a maple heel would be a dead giveaway if it were a glued up stack.

    Pickguard variation, especially early on.

I'd check with @hansmoust on that, but I'm willing to bet that that's not original.

Gluing on the wings, being extra careful to keep grain orientations and surfaces matched as much as possible, using the waste cut from right below the headstock.

Deja vu. But it's going a little quicker this time. Dialing in the fit and already brought out the carbon paper.

Gluing surfaces of the fingerboard and headstock overlay are cleaned up and ready for round 2. Time to break out one of my most unused tool, the vintage inside spring calipers, and get some dovetail measurements so I can lay out the mating surface on the new neck.

I can run the headstock overlay through the drum sander to get the old headstock wood off of it. That's easy enough. The fingerboard, because it's already radiussed and fretted is another story. I don't want to do anything to risk the inlay and frets so it gets careful paring with the paring...

Got the new neck laid out and rough cut, leaving plenty of extra for careful carving. Process will be same as the first one, dovetail first.

I'd added a koa back overlay (underlay?) for, ironically, extra strength and to dress up the plain back. (It would have been thinned down.) I'm now thinking that the clamps might have put too much stress from the weight. I do have enough of the neck sandwich glue up for a second neck for a (I...

    REALLY pale Brazilian

I'm sure it's just one of their ash body blanks that got mislinked.

What to do when you start shaping the neck and find a couple of small hairline cracks near the headstock? You put on your big boy pants and start dismemberment. I'd rather redo the neck before it's finished than have it break while someone's playing it. I'll save the fingerboard and overlay and...

    REALLY pale Brazilian

Got an email from StewMac announcing a limited supply of Brazilian rosewood fingerboards. One of the looks REALLY pale! 🤨😳😝 (When you click on it it shows the actual fret board.)

And the whole together, but no glue in the neck joint; just the mechanical connection.

I'll just have to use the StewMac gold when I'm out. Or nickel/silver when appropriate.

No more sparkles outside in natural light.

AHA! If I select the tang size first, it shows the 25 piece set as available. Are those 25 individual frets, as in short 2" lengths?

It's not listed as unavailable in the wire material choices. But when I select EVOgold it comes back as unavailable.

I just checked the Jescar site and all the Evo gold was unavailable when you select it.

And frets are in and glued. I won't trim until tomorrow after the fishies have had time to dry.
