    Finnish sense of humor

I spent the first half of this week in Espoo, Finland. Some of my Finnish colleagues went for sauna and a swim in the sea. Of course they had to cut a hole in the ice first ... beinhard

    Guild Basses

I have always liked Jazz basses, and have owned a few. The last one was sold after I bought my first Pilot. I now have three Pilots, and all share the same characteristics: -perfect balance -neck that feels good to me -P/J pickup combination that provide all sound options I need -low price...

    The best Guild with P90s

While on the subject of the Chris Fleming Blues 90 prototypes: Some have complained about the pickups in the standard Blues 90. Me too. I had a red Westerly one that I sold because I was not happy with the sound. Excellent guitar otherwise. To my ears the Fleming B90 sounds great, so I assumed...

    The best Guild with P90s

Yes. And if the other one shows up, grab it! Mine is the nicest P90 guitar I have ever tried, I still regret not buying the second one when I had the chance. beinhard

    Audio Hosts

I am also still using an older Audacity version. It works well when a full DAW is not needed. For bigger works Harrison Mixbus is nice, but not free. Mixbus is based on Ardour which is free and open-source. There were several forks of Audacity after the controversy. Most of those forks seem to...

    Bass for Guitarist

Another vote for Pilot. I am reluctant to call myself a guitarist, but I do play more guitar than bass. For me the Pilot is perfect as "one bass for the occasional bass line". What I like best about it: -light weight -perfect balance, sitting or standing -flexible P/J pickup setup (in mine...

    Silent Guitar

I have both steel and nylon string versions that I use for (relatively) silent practice. I like them. So do my wife, pets and neighbors (as long as I don't plug into an amp). beinhard

    Latest in progress from AHG

This is an absolutely amazing thread! Beautiful work, and so much to learn from it. Not that I will ever be capable of building a guitar myself, simple repairs are as far as my ambitions go. Thank you for showing your work, and I predict that the lucky owner will be very happy! beinhard

Factory frets? Or was this on purpose?

Among the many Guilds I have owned I have never seen any like that. Looks like fingerboard edge has been rounded by filing board and frets. Some players like the fingerboard rounded, but doing this to the frets only causes problems IMO. beinhard

Truss rod and neck repair Guild D15

Hei, og velkommen! Where in Norway are you? If something like that happened to my guitar I would probably talk to Harald Hougaard. His workshop is outside Moss. beinhard

    Looking for Muller intonation screw

Hi. I had the same problem with one of my 80s Guilds. Was able to find a standard metric replacement. Not visually identical, but otherwise a perfect fit. If my memory is correct it was an M2, I will double check when I get back home from Spain. There were different versions of the bridge, I...

I inherited a Guild Mark VII and am having trouble finding info on it.

Hi, and welcome! As you know from the responses, your guitar is very special in its own right, in addition to the memories attached to it. In my part of the world, any Guild classical would be very rare, but a Mark VII is like a holy grail! I was lucky to find my Mark V, a few steps below yours...

    New Dog

Thanks for all the nice comments, this is such a friendly place! I came here for guitar talk, but love to read about and see pictures of your dogs or cats or horses or birds or ... Since some of you asked: (Wilma is asleep, so now I have time to write) The Danish-Swedish farm dog is, as you...

    New Dog

It's been more than 5 years since our two dogs died, and finally we were ready for another. This is Wilma. She is a Danish-Swedish farm dog, 10 weeks old. A small dog with a big personality. Behind that innocent looking face is a maniac, but also an angel. She is smart, and her energy level...
