A ‘72 D-40 just popped up on Reverb, and has an OK price, but has an unusual recess routed under the bridge pins. Curious. To help create a better break angle over the saddle? Have not seen this before...

Listing indicates that it’s from Studio-Instrument Rentals, which opened in L.A.(?) in the 60’s. Any number of folks may have played that guitar!

Wow! Can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. I (too) didn’t know about fan bracing on early D-40s. I have a 67 and love the sound of 60’s Guilds (and their lighter builds), so fan bracing is very intriguing. Keep us posted! John

Westerly: What gauge strings are you using on the F-30? I have 12’s on mine and am thinking of trying a light (11) set. Also, I am digging Monel’s lately, but wonder about them on a smaller body guitar. I’d be curious how that F-30 sounds through your overdriven bass amp..! John

Did anyone buy the ‘65? It sold on Reverb. I had a previous post about this, as a first-year D-44 (even with the crack) seemed VERY intriguing to me. If it’s now in the LTG fold I’d be curious as to how it turned out upon arrival. I love my ‘66…
