FS 1980s "Guild Flat-Tops and Classics" Catalogue

I think I found this on eBay 20 years ago when I was really into Guild guitars. Pretty interesting, and in remarkable shape. Colors are still vibrant, very little wear. Straight from the time capsule. What's it worth? Who knows. Let's do $20 PP F&F, which includes shipping to CONUS...

    Sold 1981 Guild D-46 w/OHSC, K&K, VG

Thanks, Boneman. It is a bummer about my worn out old hands. I was playing my Collings earlier, which has a substantial neck, and even it was giving me a hard time today. I've been looking at Eastmans lately. I know their parlors have big fat necks that I really like. And I don't want to...

    Sold 1981 Guild D-46 w/OHSC, K&K, VG

Here it is at our excellent Open Mic. People in the audience could be heard to ask, "Who is that HACK up there playing that gorgeous Guild guitar?

    Sold 1981 Guild D-46 w/OHSC, K&K, VG

Thanks, it was my lucky day back in 2000 when I walked into a guitar shop to buy some strings and there it was! The original owner had traded it in for a Martin. The manager of the shop said that this Guild was "way better than the Martin he bought."

    WTB DV-72 NT

Those are nice guitars. A former guitar tech of mine has one. I believe there is one on Reverb, but I'm not sure if it exactly what you are looking for. Good luck in your search!

    Sold 1981 Guild D-46 w/OHSC, K&K, VG

Here's a couple more photos. No cracks and the center seam is tight. I measure (with a steel ruler) the low E at just a tiny bit over 3/32" at the 12th fret, and the high E at just a tiny bit over 2/32". I mostly flatpick these days, and I like where it's at. There is a short scratch on the...

    Sold 1981 Guild D-46 w/OHSC, K&K, VG

I've had to think long and hard about this one, because I've had this wonderful guitar for 23 years. But I'm downsizing and moving towards smaller guitars with big fat necks due to arthritis in my hands. I just don't play this one as well as I used to, and it is too nice to be sitting in its...

    NGD-1980 D 50

It could be that I used to own that guitar. As a matter of fact, that's it in the photo to the left! Maybe William could confirm that he bought it from me? It was a wonderful guitar, for certain. But it and the D-46 in the photo sounded almost exactly alike, so I let the 50 go. Had to make...

    Dream Guitar

I forgot about this thread, sorry. Here's the dream guitar. I love it. It is a 1998 Martin HD-28VR. Buying that nice Guild was a mistake I've made before. I don't seem to bond with new guitars. Seems I prefer a guitar with some miles on it, and couple of dings and dents.

    D46 is so unique

Well, mine went into the shop yesterday for a new nut and some fret work. I have not spent one dime on that old guitar in the 22 years I've owned it, but it's time. The guy I took it to loves Guilds, and owns a DV-72. He took mine and started playing up and down the neck to confirm my...

    New Nut for D-46

I'll talk to my guitar tech about what he prefers. Pretty sure he'll say bone. And I checked with Guild. They don't sell any replacement parts for pre-2014 Guilds.

    New Nut for D-46

Looks like my 1981 D-46 needs a new nut. Does anyone know what material Guild was using for nuts back then?

Sold 2021 Guild D-40 Traditional SB- Reduced to $1500 + shipping

It is dry. So I keep a Planet Waves humidifier in each of my cases, and run a humidifier in my guitar room. Haven't had a humidity-related problem in the 5 years that we've lived up here. But this is the first (almost) new guitar I've purchased, all my others have had at least a few years on...

Sold 2021 Guild D-40 Traditional SB- Reduced to $1500 + shipping

This guitar has developed a finish flaw directly over the center seam on the top. It runs from the soundhole to the bottom of the guitar. I checked with my guitar tech, who was puzzled about it (he knows his Guilds), but he advised that there was no reason to cleat anything. I also talked to...
