    Not an April Fool's Guitar!

Chazmo......I play jazz and free improv on clarinets and flute. Never have played Klezmer, but I've listened to enough to know that the bass clarinet could sound amazing in that context. But attention Hans! What is this guitar? It's April 2nd...... Oh right.....it's not an April Fools...

    Not an April Fool's Guitar!

Here's how I see it....it seems to be a cobbled together guitar.....sort of a FrankenGuild. I don't know what to call the sum of its parts and where they originally came from. So.....my observations......just a list of things that I've noticed in no particular order, The headstock, neck and...

Spare parts/NOS? Value? Starfire II F100 DCP

Yes, I guess I wouldn't have known that......I don't play at the sort of stage volumes that many of you might do.

Spare parts/NOS? Value? Starfire II F100 DCP

I just took a look at this thread..... That is a great guitar.....love the earliest Starfires. I have a '61 mahogany Starfire II that came to me minus the original pickups, why I don't know. But those would have been the regular "Dynasonic" style. Fortunately while searching for the right...

    FS 1961 Guild CE-100 DP

I’ve decided it's time to sell some of the Guilds I’ve acquired over the years. So first up is this 1961 CE-100 DP #15467 in very good condition. Other than the usual light checking for a guitar of this age, the finish looks great. The back has a small about 3/4” bit of finish scraped off in...

    NGD 1961 Starfire I special

Those are great guitars..... I have a '61 Starfire II with the mahogany body that tells me so..... Interesting to see the Kolb tuners.....and for me there's a lot to like with the single pickup version.

    NGD: 1955 Guild X-50

Love it., the whole thing......but especially the knobs.... I had one like that once, mine had the bigger 25.5" scale neck that was more often seen in the NY years.

    Closed 1961 harp tailpiece

I've got one in chrome..... I just checked and see people asking $200+ for them.....mine I'll ask $110 including shipping. I've got lots of old Guild parts to let go and nows a good time to get started! PM me if interested. z

    A350 1967

I love that guitar! Simple and elegant. The replacement pickup looks nicely installed with the new pickguard.....bet it sounds great. I do enjoy the original DeArmonds,......but appreciate that no modifications were done to change this one out. Without knowing about A-350's built in 1967...

    Guild model help

I awake from my long posting slumber to say.... "Love that '58 CE-100B-DP!" A favorite Guild model....

    My Gibson L4 C.

Thanks for sharing this....and love the family ties and memories. I have some old guitars where I learned the back stories from sellers that were related or friends of the original owners. Knowing some of this adds a value to me that's hard to describe., and I can only imagine how it would be...

    2001 x-150 in black

    I have a thing for certain black guitars.....so I'm loving your X-150!

    A-350

I love the interesting background information Hans provided.......and puzzling guitars like this one. A beautiful A-350 for sure with a great looking sunburst, I must admit to liking the circa 1957-58 tawny tobacco brown burst best. No need to change a thing, but a nice DeArmond Rhythm Chief...

    Novak Franz reproductions

I've got a bunch of old Franz pickups stored away..... ......but curiosity has me wanting to try one of these Novak versions!

    Sunburst finish on a 64 T-100

Here's a late '62 T-100 DP with original sunburst on the left, and a '61 CE-100 DP on the right. Even though the '62 T-100 is is a couple years older, the sunburst is original and resembles the one in question. I think it's a variation in sunburst spraying technique/ability from back in the day.

    A Funny Thing Happened…

I also have a '53 X-150 and a non cutaway '53 X-100. My experience is the same as Neals.....those old Franz pickups with the black covers sound expecially great through my '69 Princeton Amp and Princeton Reverb. So does everything else to be honest and likewise quite effective with early 60's...

    NGD 1954 X375

That looks incredible! Congrats...... I'm not sure what I'd do with a third pickup and all these switches and controls but I'd surely be inspired to find out.....

    CE-100

Nice work! Admirable effort to say the least....and the CE-100 is one of my favorite Guild models.... I'm sorry I missed out on this but just got caught up.... Too late to the party, but I do have a bunch of old Guild parts that might work for the next one....:sneaky:

    White Pickguard

I haven't yet seen a factory installed white pickguard on a 50"s Guild.... Some of the gold finished guitars seem to have rather cool gold colored pickguards, but some appear white at a glance and might have been. Just to see how one might look, here's a cream colored pickguard I made for my...

Moms Guitar | Late 50's | No Model or Serial Number

Nice guitar.....mystery serial number and all. I especially like that it has a set of those opaque amber yellow tone and volume knobs.....they showed up briefly in the late 50's on a few models.
