    F20 pick guard?

I did have to trim down the Template I downloaded from Terrapin's site to get a good fit on my GAD-30R, esp w/ respect to the rosette rings. I found a large glass where the circle matched the ring's radius. I then traced that circle onto the template. It took some time & a couple of tries, but...

    F20 pick guard?

If you have a template, Terrapin Guitars can make you one. If not, you'll need to make a template to the size & shape you want & send it to them. The radius of the guard needs to match-up to rosette rings, if you want it to look right! I would think an F-20's guard would have to be downsized...

    Guild Starfire III

The Starfire III came back for a visit today & a quick setup. After tightening the truss rod up, the action flattened out to where I could actually raise the thumbwheels up slightly, so they aren't bottomed-out any more. Got the action down to 5/64" low E / 3.5" high E w/ no buzzes :>) Just the...

    Guild Starfire III

Question for Starfire III user's (or anyone else): Today I aided a friend w/ the purchase of a '67 Starfire III. Supposedly from the nephew of the orig owner who bought from a local music store, back in '68. My friends' not all that up on tech stuff that goes along w/ buying a vint guitar. Not...

    Corona D50/New Hartford D50

Looking at this Pic, the D-50 on the left appears to have a longer bridge. I'd think that would impart slight differences in sound between the two to some degree? Regardless, both are nice looking Guilds & are making me wish I held onto my '80 D-50...sigh! Thx for the well laid-out comparisons...

So, here's how it all worked out... (Guild D40 / F50R)

You'd think the bursted one would cost more..? I'd be more inclined to go w/ the natural one. Makes that kool marquetry inlaid on the top pop-out...imo

    Gad 30 vs F130

I ran the differences between the two on the AGF. DCannon & others have expanded on it... GAD-30R: Auditorium body style Solid Sitka spruce top Scalloped bracing Solid rosewood back and sides 1-piece mahogany neck Ebony fretboard Grover Sta-Tite 14:1 tuners Ebony bridge Chrome hardware...

    Looking For A Pickguard

I'm not sure why it's listed as an 'unknown' either Joe, but it's definitely the one for a Guild. I used it for the template to make a new guard for my Guild 30R. The radius was a little off for the soundhole, so I had to play around w/ that to get the right radius. To do that, I wrapped...

    Looking For A Pickguard

Try Terrapin Guitars. They used to have guards for Guilds. Still might...? I think they can make you what you want. I downloaded their template & made one for my GAD-30R, only in sheet Tor-tis material I bought from LMI. The soundhole radius is key. If you can, remove & save your old pkdg to use...

Hi - newbie question on D30 value

That's exactly what I paid for a new one. A fellow around the corner from me had several of them for sale at a garage sale late in the 90's (he was part owner of a music store). My wife found it out & told me. I scraped up the $9 Bills, ran over & bought it. Unfortunately, I never bonded w/ it...

Back to Original with the DV72.....

Fixing a Hole...! Not an easy fix to make them invisible again. Bringing the indentations & plugged screw holes back up level again, from the Waverly's footprints, requires some finesse. You then have the lacquer matching/touch-up to do. Superglue is what is typically used to fill the...

So, here's how it all worked out... (Guild D40 / F50R)

A 1 3/4" nut is a must for me...esp for fingerpicking. With my fingers, I struggle too much hitting bad notes w/ anything less. Since you like the tone so much, you could try replacing the nut for wider spaced one & see if that gives you enough room for your playing style before you decide to...

    GAD F130r my first "Guild"

18:1's are a superior tuner. The bushings should fit. I don't think the new tuners will fit through the existing bushings though. Try & see. If not, you need to push the old one's out carefully. Use caution so as not to chip the finish or the wood around the edges. Make sure the mounting holes...

    GAD F130r my first "Guild"

You shouldn't have to ream the holes. Measure 1st w/ a caliper 2B sure. They should already be 11/32" bores? Just press-in the new Bushes w/ a C-clamp, protecting any of the wood w/ a caul as needed. Reamers can be had on the cheap for about $10. http://www.specialtyguitars.com/p/02-05002.html

    GAD F130r my first "Guild"

Thx Learning2... Been a member for a while, but rarely post.. mostly lurk. I'm not all that versed in Guild-drome...yet! I am really enamored by Guilds of late. Having owned a few Guilds in the past (D50/D30), they've somehow slipped through my hands in favor of other brands. Eventually, I...

    GAD F130r my first "Guild"

Congrats on the new 130R. I think they're a fabulous geetur for what you get at a reasonable cost. I have it's predecessor, GAD-30R & lately that's all I've been playing. You're right, the tuners aren't that great. I ditched mine right away for 18:1 Grover Sta-tites. On the bushing issue, I...
