This happened to nme a very long time ago, 1974, when I received the Lesh M85 from Alembic. I had to buy a case for it and I did, a stock M85 case. In the 70s I used to travel with my Alembic in a road case through airports. People thought it was a Rhodes. Almost as huge and heavy.

RT installed one of his in place of the original Baggs (I think) in my Taylor. This was done in 1999. if you ask nicely you could probably get one his acolytes to do it.
