    Anything negative Oxnard D-40s?

I’ve had (and sadly sold) a D40T, and missed it so I got a new D40 Standard, which is excellent. Richard bought my D40T and I believe he likes it a lot. Both GREAT GUITARS. My problem is that as i age, I need smaller “girthed” guitars. But still have the D40 Standard and it never fails to...

    NGD: D20

Those D20s are the bees knees, for sure. What I love about the sound is that it is deep and mellow without sounding muffled or soft like a lot of all mahogany guitars. Nice score. roger

    Strings for D40

I switch between Martin Retros and Martin Flex Core PB (Tommy’s Choice) on my D40 Standard. They both sound great, just a little different. rb

New Member, New To Guild, And New D-20

Glad to see you here, Bob. Great folks here on this forum, and extremely knowledgeable about all things Guild. I hope the D20 fills your acoustic needs. It’s one of the best values out there. roger

What acoustic are you playing today?

The D20 and D40 Standard come out to play often. Always delighted how great they sound compared to the others. Roger

NGD, Mark I, mahogany top classical

Congratulations. Those are great guitars. Had one and sold it for some reason. rb

    Sold a D50 and a G75 and got this!

Is this model a tricked out D55? I’m not that familiar with all the various models. That is a beautiful guitar. Very classy! Roger

    Sold Sold: '96 DV52

Why hasn’t this guitar sold? Wish I could. roger

    Oh, this is so tempting....

The silking on that top is unbelievable. Beautiful guitar. yes, it seems a bit high. Looks like it’s in Germany? Would cost extra to get it to the US, I’m guessing. roger

    NGD D40 standard

I just posted a sampling of this guitar in the Members Music section. I hope you like it…loving this guitar. Roger

    Incoming....

I had one of those. They‘re seriously nice guitars. I didn’t get on well with the neck shape and 1-3/4” nut. Just a bit too much girth for me, but most folks like that kind of neck. congratulations…I bet you’ll love it. roger

Play Wear to Be Proud Of On My Guild

That’s sort of a testament to the sound of that guitar. Crappy sounding guitars don’t usually get played very much. Yours must be a tone king. Roger oops, I guess that’s what you said above. Anyway, it must be a good one.

    NGD D40 standard

I agree about the white binding, Wellington. And, once it starts to yellow a bit, it’ll be even more cool. I liked the tortoise binding on the Traditional, however. It’s such a dignified look. Roger

    NGD D40 standard

Walt, I’ve had an M36 and liked it well enough. The bass notes were a little unfocused, but generally it was a nice guitar. Size was great. After having had a few Martins, I’m really enjoying the clarity I get from my Guilds. roger

    NGD D40 standard

I think Martin is very true to the tradition that says factory standard 18 level instruments are without bling. So, in the standard offerings, you need to move up to a 28 level to get bling from the factory as in HD28 for herringbone, and on up from there to the 45. Of course for a price you...

    NGD D40 standard

Yes, I think someone who didn’t know what bearclaw is (or someone who doesn’t like it) would have been highly disappointed upon receiving the guitar. My guess it would have been sent back to Sweetwater. Glad I like it. There is some stain, but it is very subtle. Just right. I’ve had...

    NGD D40 standard

Here are some more shots of the back and sides. The color is less red and much lighter than my Traditional was. Also, there is significant bear claw figuring in the Sitka. This didn’t show up in the Sweetwater photos, so it was a nice surprise when the guitar arrived. I like the bear claw...

    NGD D40 standard

Thanks folks. This new model is a winner. I hope Guild sells a ton of them. I like the tint of the back and sides too, Schoolie. Goes great with the white binding. Roger

    NGD D40 standard

Having sold my D40 Traditional and having regrets, I added a D40 standard to join my D20 in the family. The standard is a few hundred less than the traditional and lacks the dovetail neck joint, but features red spruce bracing under the Sitka top, like the Traditional. That combination is a...

Played an Oxnard D40 (standard, not Traditional)

I recently sold my D40 T (I know, bad move), and got the itch again and wanted to try out one of the standard Oxnard D40s. I have a D20 and love everything about it (except how big it is). The finish on the D20 is very good…mild satin over a completely pore filled body and neck. It’s really...
