When is a neck reset no longer possible?

It should also be noted though, that factories often have bridges of various heights/thicknesses, so a sanded/shaved bridge isn't inherently bad, although it obviously can be.

Have “we” located the Nick Drake guitar?

Yes! I lived there for 15 years. So I love, but also . . . the opposite. I grew up in Clinton . . . so we have a different vibe.

Have “we” located the Nick Drake guitar?

Look . . . I like a good legend. This one has gone on for so long. I remember in the 90s being on the Nick Drake listserv and the non-stop discussion. Mostly though, I was just trying to be diplomatic. Brian, from my posted video, is not in any way diplomatic about this! I like the Shroud...

Have “we” located the Nick Drake guitar?

Same, they moved to Chester, Conn. I'll be there on Saturday as part of Chester's Earth Day thing. I'll be bringing my Guild M40! And one of their Youtube demos is what pushed me over the edge in picking up the M40.

Have “we” located the Nick Drake guitar?

I saw this too! And I still think it's mostly settled business that Nick never owned the guitar. It's obviously plausible that the guitar is "that" M20. My friend Brian (who wrote an article about this for Fretboard Journal) is fairly versed in/obsessed with this topic:

    Westerly Collection QC

I like my Made in China M240 a lot. It's a very playable and a pretty decent sounding guitar and it is now my main "any and all gigs" guitar. I only paid $250 for it! I swapped out the Dearmond Tone Boss for a Fishman Rare Earth Humbucker. My S&P Songsmith, with the Tone Boss installed, has...

    INGD: Guild D-40

It's the metric version of NGD. Great purchase! I have an Oxnard M40 and I'm continually blown away by it's greatness. With respect to rosewood vs mahogany - more than once I've been surprised by what I thought I wanted and what my ears actually preferred.

    Westerly F-30

A short-scale, sunburst, Westerly F30 of either variety is high on my list.

So a fifty-five year old D40 walks into a bar....

I'm way into vintage acoustic electrics. Like my favorite Gibson might be the CF100e. And I love a 50s Guild F20 with a soundhole pickup. So I'd like this D40 electric. My "pro tip" would be to get something like a Tech 21 Acoustic Fly Rig (which I've been messing around with a lot lately...

    D20 pickguard

This may or may not be the right one (style, era), but I did find this the other day. Until recently you could get replacement pickguards directly from the Guild store. https://musicgalleryinc.com/products/guild-352-105547

    Fishman electronics kaput?

I would totally contact Fishman support. They consistently answer my questions. And you never know what they might do for you.

    Long-scale F20 info?

Thanks! I'm far down the proverbial rabbit hole with respect to F20s . . . including pickguards. I like this one!

First Thread: Help to identify inconsistency on Guild M240e

My guess is that there is a battery pouch inside the guitar - either on the neck block or on the inside of the upper bout. I'd prefer this setup, as it gives you the option of changing the pickup without having an remnant of another pickup system. For example, I have Guild DCE1 with only the...

First Thread: Help to identify inconsistency on Guild M240e

I'm big fan of the M240e. I bought one to keep myself from buying an M40. That did not work. But . . . I love both guitars for different reasons. The M240 stands on it's own. The arch back with new-ish strings adds some unexpected volume and sustain. With old dead strings it almost leans toward...

    Recommendations for Guild Dreadnought Cutaways?

I like all the DCE series. And missed my old DCE1 so much, that I went and found another to replace it.

You said it would happen; I have my second Guild guitar (with pics)

YES! I'm a huge fan of arch back Guild dreadnoughts. That's a sweet find and solid purchase. And as you may have read elsewhere. The D4 and the legendary D25 are the same guitar structurally.

    Cedar-topped DV6 on Reverb

And I'll say again. I only remember a small few acoustics I've played in the store (and not bought). The top two. a Santa Cruz OM I played 25+ years ago, and a DV6 cedar I played closed to 20 years ago. It was pretty magical.
