    Repair Question

Hi Richard, Just to clarify: Westerly did not install bridges directly over finish--at least not in the sense discussed-- but certainly did leave a lot to be desired with keeping strict protocol for doing this properly. The finished area was first scraped to bare top, then the bridge was...

    Truss rod?

It’s indeed buffing compound. More specifically— for as long as I’ve known— this excellent stuff from Germany (showing 20 years of age here)

    Strings from The Vaults

This packet was recently coughed up from the dark recesses of whatever is left from Westerly. Fun stuff

    Local News of Westerly Anniversary

It was taken shortly before the plug was pulled by Schultz & Co. Even at the time we sensed this was like posing for da Vinci’s Last Supper.

    Local News of Westerly Anniversary

It’s brief and cursory, but at least still acknowledging local lore. And ol’ Billy Boy Colwell (production engineer) makes an appearance—as do I in a blurred group photo. Thought some here might care to watch it HERE

Guitar Player Magazine & Guild Westerly Alumn

Congratulations to former coworker at Guild Westerly, Otto D'Ambrosio, for Guitar Player magazine's review and praise (Editor's Pick) for his Eastman Romeo design. All those years ago we would leaf through every latest Guitar Player and now he is part of those pages. How cool is that? Review HERE

    Production in New Hartford

    Finish on a '93 Guild DV-52 HG

Not a joke. Well the part about another reason to shut the doors was— but we certainly used regular, green bottled Turtle Wax diluted with water and applied to the polishing wheels. This was not exclusive to Guild at the time.

Thank you, Don, for all the years. And thank you, GAD, for keeping the gears turning.

    Finish on a '93 Guild DV-52 HG

Uh oh. Maybe another reason the axe came down on the Westerly factory; every buffing station’s polishing wheels were green from Turtle Wax.

    JF- 26 ?

Let’s clarify the “Pepsi” story because I’ve seen it misinterpreted too many times as a daily/weekly/bi-weekly/monthly/quarterly occurrence; it wasn’t. Only for the factory Xmas party was this nectar of the Calabrese gods passed around. One day. No more, no less.

Fastest dang guitar purchase I’ve made in my life!

Very nice find. Like the M20s, these are great for Nashville tuning. A bit of trivial backstory: When these rolled off production into Final Assembly I was a bit miffed. Willie looked at me, picked one up and said "Small. For the ladies"
