When I got my first "real" guitar, (not counting the "$12.95 Sears Catalog Special, complete w/instruction book and neck cord"), it was a big black Silvertone single cutaway archtop hollow body. Played the snot out of it until the neck joint started coming apart. Drilled and counter-bored the heel of the neck, inserted a big ol' round-headed woodscrew, and played it some more. It finally gave up the ghost and it was flat-tops for years until I bought the X-170. But I've always wanted a big hollow-bodied archtop. And now I have one.
One very nice Westerly X-500 in beautiful condition. The only flaws I can find are a couple places on the neck at the nut where the finish had checked. Other than that, nada. Action is great with lots of bridge adjustment left, great tone, and all the other superlatives I can think of. I haven't played it that much, in fact I haven't played much of anything for a while, so my skills are rusty, but I'm going to work on that. Here's a couple more pictures to drool over:
Right now I consider myself one lucky son-of-a-gun.
P.S. I just realized I've got to change my avatar!
