Michigan leads the nation currently in Covid patients, our hospitals are 95-100% occupied. Mrs. Dread has thankfully avoided Covid even though she works at the hospital, she tested negative again yesterday.

Seems like a new surge is bound to happen here in France too. Looks like another dull X-mas is ahead ...I tested negative today ,but I can't help but fear for the ones I love...Hospital workers here are exhausted and ridiculously under-paid...Well, take care , everybody!

Best wishes for good health, good luck and happiness to Dreadnut and family and everyone. Stay safe!

It is bad everywhere, at least in regional pockets if not universally so across whole countries.

And a big thank you to all the healthcare people who go in day after day for long and seemingly thankless hours. Some are even threatened and harassed going on and off shift. One of my daughter's old elementary school friends is a hospital nurse who is on the verge of burnout. It is hard to deal with so much sickness and death.

Let's everyone get to the other side of this safely. Stay calm. Stay safe. Be kind and respectful to others.

The Mrs. just told me yesterday that she read that 1 in every 10 cases in the US is from MI. A very good friend of mine lives in Ovid MI, not too far from you. She wanted to make sure he knew. He already did.

Stay safe.

"Ovid"? What a weird coincidence. Just missing a "C"...

"In Michigan, more than 87% of COVID hospitalizations are among people who are not fully vaccinated."

My cousin in Germany has a beautiful newborn son, just about a month old. About a week ago he started having a very hard time breathing and they took him to the doctor. It turned out he had RSV, which is similar to a common cold in adults but can easily be life-threatening to newborns with weak immune systems. He desperately needed a ventilator, but guess what... all ventilators were occupied by unvaccinated COVID patients. The hospital had to call around to six other hospitals before they found a single available ventilator! The boy had to be urgently transported hours away just to get the help he needed. Just some 100% non-political, matter-of-fact food for thought.

At my Thanksgiving dinner at my brother's house, a prayer was said for my bro-in-law who is hospitalized for trouble with his myasthenia gravis. He's fully vaccinated, although the vaccines (flu, COVID, shingles) all send his condition into a frenzy. He had trouble breathing so they put him on a ventilator. The family consensus was that he was on his last leg! They were equating ventilator with impending death. I had to tell them that ventilators are used all the time and help people to weather their breathing troubles and that this "death sentence" associated with a ventilator is a COVID thing, not a ventilator thing. It's funny how people can mix things up and quickly attribute side effects to a certain piece of equipment vs. a particular disease.

We have yet to have a Covid related thread die out rather than get closed because of political content.

Verifiable statements of fact are allowed and not considered political until Poster A and Poster B start arguing about what is factual because they use different sources and one does not consider the other's sources reliable. Opinions about the facts may or may not be considered political but the wise poster will keep their opinion to themselves.

"100% of local patients who are hospitalized for Covid are unvaccinated" is factual. "100% of local patients who are hospitalized for Covid are unvaccinated idiots" is an opinion.

Posting in this thread and commenting something is political will get you in trouble with at least one Moderator. Reporting the post will get you a "thank you" from the same Moderator. @HeyMikey gets a pass because the comment was before this post.

Those of you with long memories may remember draconian moderation that did not even allow the phrases "climate change" or "global warning" in posts because there were a couple of folks who saw the words as an opportunity. We can do that again with "Covid" if we need to. But don't be the poster who makes it so "we can't have nice things anymore".

This thread is getting too political…
I just reread the thread and for the life of me couldn't find any mention of a political candidate, party, or issue regarding voting or representation. Please point out what you found to be too political so those of us who missed it can better inform ourselves.

If he did that, the thread would be shut down. Let's just leave it be.....

Like death and taxes it will always be here. 30% of the Whitetail Deer pop tested - in Michigan - has it, without symptoms, but... I heard tell that "the deer are/will be a reservoir for Covid and that it will occasionally jump back to humans" so it's here to stay.

The future is here now.

It's like a bad episode of Twilight Zone. Over the loudspeakers at Lowes today..."Please practice social distancing, yada yada."

Bladerunner.
