Does the pickup on this guitar look too pristine to be from 1959? The guitar is currently for sale on Reverb.

There's a '59 T-100 on Reverb that has pretty clean pup covers, too. I have the same question for the pickguard!

Either way I love the guitar!

Does look very good. What is the condition of the rest of the guitar? Is it a closet queen?

The shiny pole pieces, the crisp edges on the cover, the stark whiteness, the brand new pickguard, yes, I think it’s at least a new cover, if not a whole reissue pup. Vintage Franzes get this beautiful creaminess and rounded ness in their covers as the plastic ages.
Here’s a pic of my ‘60 X-150. Note the Guild pickguard, and the Franz cover. (Ignore the strings, I’m doing some first aid on the bridge.) Sorry about the late night lighting.

Hard to tell -- I noticed also just how "shiney" those pole screws are as well !
The rest of the guitar would definitely help tell the story. I have heard that some of the older pure white plastic stays very white.

The pickup covers aren’t using the same plastic as the binding. I’ve seen some binding stay very white. I’ve never seen a vintage Franz stay pure white.

That guitar looks near-mint. In that context, I feel like it's probably original. Who'd have stolen the pickup out of a guitar that looks to have lived its entire life in the case? OTOH, I think I see a binding splice, so it's not fresh from the closet, either.

Really hard to say. They do look awfully bright, but it could just be a matter of the photography. Pickup cover brighter than binding isn't that weird -- that's how my '54 is.

I would be curious about the pickguard, too -- but mostly I'd want to look at it in hand.

I just viewed the Reverb add, and based on that, I would have no reason to question the authenticity of the guitar, or any of its parts. for what it is, from 1959, the entire instrument would be considered time capsule. there are some signs of life, including to my eyes, in the screw slots of the pole pieces in the other photos on Reverb. but this is a case queen, when they are this clean, you do wonder at first if it is a reissue or full restoration, then u realize how clean it is and it is original...just amazing that they are still out there from 1959.
