I love a good CL or FB score, and pickings have been good in my area lately. In the last couple of weeks I’ve refrained from going after an Oxnard D-40 for $800 and what looked like a pretty nice OM-140 with the original poly foam case and a USA Guild HSC for $400, but there was no passing up this one. At $275 my preference for small body guitars can take a hike!

It is 100% playable in its current condition but will get a little TLC soon. Three issues need to be addressed. At some point someone did a pretty sloppy job of shaping a new bone nut for it, but apparently cut the nut slots too low on the treble side so they shimmed that side of the nut with a folded piece of paper. Next the saddle was sanded down at some point...from the top, so a new one is in order. Finally there is some slight bridge lift that will need a re-glue.
Better photos are also in order but I had another project to get to.

Nice score! All minor fixes. If you can DIY even better.

All mahogany, flat back. They have a sound all their own. Congrats!

$275? Wow!
That is like 1971 price. $225. Will adjust $50 inflation which computes to $1 per year. Lol.

Congrats on a real Br!

I played mine thru a big PA last night. Freaking rocked. Also a ‘71 Br.

What a steal! Major congrats! (Don't know how you refrained from that D40!)

This is high on my list of guitars to get though my collecting days are probably over for the next few years. That’s a very clean one, some of these come up battered and worn.

I will DIY the saddle. I’m confident I could do the nut and bridge if I had the tools. One of these days I’ll invest in a good set of nut slot files and some bridge clamps/caul.

All mahogany, flat back. They have a sound all their own. Congrats!
I didn’t even look up the SN before running out the door to check it out but was excited when the low res photos very obviously showed a mahogany top.

Congrats on a real Br!
Thanks, I thought I remembered that you had one. I wouldn’t call them rare but considering the sheer number of spruce D25’s out there, comparatively these are pretty special.

Honestly I had a lot going on and it was a bit of a drive, if I’d had more time I probably would have gone after it 😂
