What is " It " you ask? It's that I've taken my not played much Walden G2070 guitar and put in in DADGAD tuning. It's a Cedar over Mahogany guitar . OM style I would guess and it sounds really cool in that open tuning. I looked up a quick chart on common chords in DADGAD and am trying to find my way. Playing single note runs throws me because the shapes of scales I know don't work, so I have to hunt around a lot. Some of the chords I find feel like they need to resolve to something, but I don't know where to put my fingers to get there.

Just for the curious, here is a YouTube clip with a guy playing one. Interesting 2 finder picking style and too dark video, but it gives you an idea what the guitar sounds like in Drop D, I'd guess.

Good for you John. Open tunings are fun and they make me a better player in standard tuning (which isn't saying much)! You'll have fun. It's best to use a specific tuning that you have chord shapes for, then you'll learn how to move around the fretboard. In doing that, you'll hear chords for other songs you know, and then learn to play those in your new tuning!! (y)

New chord shapes and such? So it's like learning guitar all over again? I have yet to learn it the first go 'round!

No, not like learning all over again. Shapes are similar mostly, they're just in different places all over the fretboard. It's more like learning a new song and using the whole fretboard. Barre chords are used as well. It's fun!!

Tom. I've been checking out DADGAD chord charts. Some of the chords listed with the diagrams are flat out wrong. I know what a Dm sounds like and could probably tell the inversions , but , I guess just because it's online doesn't make it correct.
