I recently read on another members website that in 1961, only four CE100DP's got the factory installed Guild Bigsby and read in the book that '61 was the first year for that tailpiece. I am hoping to find out more about mine (SN#15472) and if it is in fact one of those 4. How do we look up stuff like that?

I have '61 CE-100DP #15467 which is just a few numbers away from the OP's.....and it's always had a harp.
Close but not one of the 4 with factory Bigsby's!

Actually I'm happy about that as I don't care to use Bigsby's or have that extra weight attached to my guitar.
But I've certainly heard players that make great music with them.

If there are no extra holes under the Bigsby mounting lip, it came with the Bigsby.
Agreed, and that is the case, I guess I was hoping for some confirmation from factory lists and hoped to find everything in order with records matching what I believe I know. Thanks for your input.

Hans has your answer, as eluded to in GG's page.

Hello JayBecker,

Welcome! The information given in that article re. the number of CE-100DPs with a Bigsby came from me, but it was an incorrect interpretation of the actual info I gave. The guitar that was the subject of the article was part of a batch of CE-100s that were serial number stamped towards the end of the year 1960. As was usual for Guild not all guitars from a batch were completed right away and that particular instrument was completed with a Guild Bigsby more than half a year later together with 3 other CE-100s from that same batch. That is the information I gave so these instruments were not the only 4 with a Bigsby that were done during 1961, but the only 4 from that 1960-batch that did get one. Your Guild CE-100DP was from a 1961-batch, which Guild did several more of during that same year.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
