Not to worry. The bass that's getting the new top isn't pictured.
Do you actually have three young girls?
4? 5?Nope.Do you actually have three young girls?
A '68, bought off of eBay for next to nothing because it was listed not by model number but by serial number, with no picture. And I know Guild serial numbers in the period I'm interested in. Nothing worked and it needed a refin. Then I got a call from Fender wanting to borrow one to base their reissue off of. They refinned it, but it took an AWFUL LONG time to get it back.
Probably carefully filed it away with the s/n records of the last 3 years at Westerly and finally found it when they cleaned out the janitor's closet in Corona.19 years? So did they know they basically stole the guitar?
I actually don't think so. But it's back while I'm still alive - the important thing.19 years? So did they know they basically stole the guitar?
19 years ago was 2002...Corona.based on your story, is the GSR M-85-II bass, based (ha) on your 68 burst?? and/or the Newark St. M-85?
that is only the beginning of the story! a lot can happen in 19 years19 years ago was 2002...Corona.

I suppose it's spruce. I really don't know. The Lesh bass is definitely spruce, and will get spruce again, with f-holes I suppose. RT has suggested cat's eyes, but it originally had f-holes, so that would make more sense to me.that looks beautiful! spruce top?
new top on the Lesh bird? spruce w F-Holes?

u are just full of surprises!
I don't entirely follow this, but it is a cool story none the less. I beleive the Newark Street M-85 is a copy of your bass (or one of Grots), however the Newark St. M-85 does not have a neck pickup. The GSR M-85 body (depth) is more like an M-75 guitar, or I suppose Identical to the GSR/Patriarch M-75, and the Newark Street M-75 Aristocrat. maybe that is what you meant? Sounds like you know what you are talking about. keep us posted on the twin Hoboken M-85 RT restorations! we're not worthy!!!The reissue was supposed to be - I think that was the intent when they borrowed it - but as we know they went for the guitar body.
