My policy requires a special rider, which like a dumba** I don't have.

Just curious on this one. I have no special insurance for my guitars. I checked with my Insurance man (Freemont) and he assured me my guitars would be covered under the contents provision of my home owners insurance. Since the only things in my house of any value are guitars and firearms (and my dogs and cats of course) there is more than enough coverage if there is a catastrophic loss like fire or whatever.

One of the caveats is that the guitars cannot be used as working/gigging guitars and basically can't leave the house except for maintenance/repair etc. And, that's fine since I don't play out anymore.

My policy is similar except that there is a maximum value that will paid for all "non-gigging" musical instruments. That value is something like $10K which could be less than the replacement cost for a large number of instruments or for especially valuable ones. I think the "non-gigging" definition would volunteering to entertain at a care facility or play in church but now I kind of want to go and reread the language.

Yeah, I may not have understood my Insurance guy's explanation properly. I'm going to follow up on that and make sure I'm covered.. Something like $10k just isn't going to work for me.

I had to list mine separately on my homeowners with comps or appraisals for the replacement value. You may want to make sure they agree in advance what they will pay for each one. Free or payed gigs were excluded from coverage.

Once I start playing out again I may look into some other coverage like from Heritage. Then again most of my guitars won’t be used for gigging.

Richard, doubt a $110K will work for you.
I have a separate policy to cover $20K valued on 6 guitars and cost me $79 a year - one time payment. I have auto and home owners with same company. $79 a year doesn't seem bad to me.

No idea what a Deco is worth across the pond, Tom. I would guess, though, that it isn't over 3000 pounds.
