Just arrived. Haven't even tuned it up yet to play. Looks really good though. This is the 8 string version with the EIR B&S and Fishman Sonitone elctronics with volume and tone knobs in the soundhole. I know this one is gonna be a lot of fun. I bought the F Style premium Gig Bag to go with it and it fits like a glove. That particular Guild Gig Bag is quite nice actually with heavy duty zippers and plenty of internal padding.

Here's a few pics. I'll tune it up this afternoon to see what it's all about.

Congratulations! Beautiful, and it does look like a lot of fun! I don't recall ever hearing of an 8 string. When and where was it made?

Wow, I’m having trouble computing this one in my head! So only the 3rd & 4th strings have an adjoining string? Never have seen anything like it!

Congrats Richard!

I'm intrigued by the idea or owning a baritone, but not sure if the 8 string is a good place to start. The samples sound great.

Some of the videos I've seen of independent shops don't always make the 8 string sound that great. The first one I found made me think they didn't have the guitar quite in tune. Like a 12 string, if the octave strings are not dead on, it sounds off. Another one was better. Not as much time spent micing the guitar to sound it's best, I guess.

The more that I play my 8 string baritone the better I like it.
I am really liking it capoed up 2 or 3 frets.
Richard, be prepared for the bass B string bridge pin to be a problem to get out when you change strings.
I pulled all the stock plastics pins and replaced them with brass pins. I like the tonal difference.

My vocals like the lowered tunings on some songs.
The 8 string baritone can still be muddy when strummer but when capoed up 2 or 3 frets, the muddiness clears up a lot.
So yes, my ear likes a whole step down better than 2.5 steeps down on some songs.
When I use my baritone with my band, playing it open adds a richer bottom end to the sound.
We have up to 3 other guitars playing at the same time so the baritone is a nice addition.

I've suddenly become very intrigued by these guitars. Apparently there are none to be had at the moment. I know this is a Guild forum but has anyone compared the Guild baritone to the Alvarez one?

Check Calido guitars in Texas. Where I got mine and a stand up seller/srtore.

Takes a little getting used to and I'm not a capo kinda guy but I'm having some fun with it. When people stop over they all like to play around with it. I think I'll be holding onto it for a while.
