Just now stumbled upon this video on youtube...I never realized my 1963 S-100 "Jetstar" had "Franz" pickups...
(all these years I thought I had a Polara with DeArmonds--tsk!)
I think if that "guy from the Netherlands" doesn't write a new book on Guild, Willie should do it...

the pickups are Franz, which sounds German, but it's New York....

regardless of his obvious inaccuracies, you can't fault him for his effort or passion, and he is like a comedian.

I can only imagine Han's face while watching this video. Like a look of total consternation and hopefully some light chuckling....

Well, the Mickey Mouse pickups are not from DeArmond either, they were Guild made.
Ralf
True, but my Polara has the white face single coils on page 32 of Hans' book(not the MMs), and I guess I thought Willie's "Jetstar" had the same.
All this time I'd assumed mine were white faced DeArmonds--so they were Guild made?

I found the video fantastic, but I have been locked down for a year. Does a great job representing the brand, plus minus a couple hysterical inaccuracies.

Jet Star, Jetsons. To think this became the gorgeous hunk of an S-100 with super humbuckers a few years later, it's kinda like turning a Nova into a Corvette.

The middle picture on page 32 (and on page 156) of Hans book are Guild made pickups. Either Chrome cover or white cover.
The pickups in that Willie's "Jet-Star" (he got confused with the picture on page 157 showing that headstock) are Mickey Mouse (also Guild made) however (see left picture below from the video above).

Look at the differences:

Aha, yes I watched the video again on my TV and could tell that Willie's had the Mickey Mouse PUs. My Polara has the ones in your
central photo. Thanks!
