Just acquired my first Guild electric.

All original. Sounds really nice, and more comfortable in my hands than my Ric 360-12, which has a really thin neck.

Congratulations! I couldn't be happier with my '67--the pickups on these are perfect for a 12 string. Does yours have a volute? I can't tell from the photo--is it a Westerly era guitar?

Very nice! It would be a close cousin to my 1968 X-500 that has similar markings on the pick guard. I bet it sounds great!

If I say, " Nice guitar! " I could be looking at of the of the 17 or so just within this shot.

No volute. It’s a ‘67 with a Hoboken label, so I am pretty sure it is pre-Westerly.

Beautiful awagner and for you to make room, I will take any guitar in the row just over the right cutaway in 2nd picture. Those DVs locked up my eyes.
Love the burst on your Starfire XII.

That's still a Hoboken made one, a 1967 one.
Ralf
So some guitars came with volutes, some not? Mine is a '67 with a volute, and I thought according to Hans' book volutes were more or less standard from 1965 until the Westerly move. There goes one of my "dating at a glance" systems for earlier Guilds.

My 1968 X-500 does not have a volute. My old CE-100D did though; I think that one was a 1966 or 1967.

Ok. Thanks. I thought a volute was a piece added to reinforce the neck. To me, it just looked like that’s how they shaped the neck.
