I've been having remorse about letting go my DV-72, though I know it's in great hands (GAD). So...I did the next best thing, I bought Rich Peterson's JV-72. Here are the pics. It arrived today, and I have to say, it's everything like the DV-72, only louder, if that's possible. I'm back into Guild jumbos with this one, and am I glad! D**n the checking is cool!

Beautiful guitar, congrats! And the checking looks a little like bear claw.

Wow! That blue turquoise!
And louder. Amp goes up to 11 on that one.

Yeah, and the balance between the lows, mids and highs is EXACTLY Guild craftsmanship, all the way. Thanks to Glenn for installing the bridge doctor. Just what the doctor ordered! I'll have to record something for ya'all. "V" for vintage. I don't know what Guild was thinking when it came up with the "V" line (DV-52, etc.), but there must have been magic in the air, if not some illegal substance.

Well, I did nothing but play it but Glenn and Andrew were good stewards of the instrument. Glad it stayed in the family.

It was Glenn who restored the guitar, not I. The guitar did not even need a setup when I acquired it from him.

Beautiful guitar, congrats! And the checking looks a little like bear claw. I'm curious as to which owner abused this guitar to the point that it has what it has. I mean, if I had bought this guitar new, and had responsibility for it, I'd been thoroughly depressed if I was responsible for abusing it. Anyway, as I said, Glenn brought it back to life. He understands guitars and music.
GG, I had the same thought!

If I change my name to Richard will it be a given that I will own a DV or JV 72?
Glad it is still in good hands!

So happy to see the ol' gal again!

I've had occasional misgivings about selling it -- 'twas ever thus! -- but happy it's making other people happy!

Sounded unlike any Guild I owned before or since, including the F50R, which it most closely resembles.

May it serve you well, Rich!

Glenn, well, I can think of a lot of cases of seller's remorse, probably because when I commit to buying a Guild, I'm all for it; but then, as things develop, (mostly in my imagination I suppose) I move towards something else that catches my fancy. But, some of us on this forum are like that. In any case, one cannot have regrets in the final analysis. Rich Peterson and I have sold back and forth a number of Guilds, as we experienced the itch to which I referred to above. It's part of the search for the perfect, fulfilling guitar, Guild of course. I still regret selling back to Rich the Finesse. I've owned it twice! And, am thinking of trying to pry it from Rich a third time! Fortunately, Rich Peterson is a considerate soul, and realizes himself, as I do, that we own our guitars as something which passes through our fingers from time to time, to allow someone else a moment of happiness and pleasure.

I just noticed the herringbone. I totally missed at first perusal.
So beautiful!

I must say, visually and sonically the jumbo version of the "72" is AWESOME. I just applied some Virtuoso cleaner and polish to her and she's gleaming. I'm thinkin' of getting the Rode NT5 condenser mic(s) and posting some recordings on YouTube or SoundCloud.
