I don't know if you guys are kidding, but it's obviously "Guitar Center" with a font that has the "T" look like a "7".

I think they speak for themselves....
I guess I'm hard of hearing Seriously what do these tell us? Does something indicate an intent to deceive - convince someone that the instrument was made by Fender when it wasn't? Does something support or refute my hypothesis that this instrument was assembled from genuine Fender parts but that neither FMIC or Guitar Center (corporate) knew or approved of the "made for" markings? Something else?
Thanks.

The lesson for you with this near miss for a fairly obvious fake is stop looking at other Stratocasters. They do not take kindly to it.
After being a long time G&L (Leo Era) player. A stock Strat just doesn't do it for me. Even the vintage ones. Compared my '89 S-500 I had through the 90's with an original '62 Strat. There was no comparison at all, in tone, build quality, feel nothing. Which is why I found out that Fender threw down a gantlet when G&L first came out. I was told by Dale Hyatt, G&L sales rep. Fender threatened stores all over the country, to pull G&L or they would pull Fender's full line. At that time, most instruments were floored. Meaning they were lent on spec to the stores. Mr Hyatt told me that G&L's were being returned by the truck load. I was lucky enough to get two of the original F-100's in 1980. Those guitars ruined any chance of me looking at Fender. And it was another 20 years before I bought another Strat ot Tele. Today I have one G&L left. A 1987 ASAT III. I also have one Strat a 2000 MIM with Sperzel tuners, Calaham bridge, and Seymore Duncan Lil 59's. To my ears its the best sounding Strat I've ever owned. Mainly because, it doesn't sound like a strat at all.
