Stratford, Stuart, etc.

Do they mean anything? Are they someone’s name?

Well, the flattops (Valencia, Aragon) seemed to have been named for Spanish regions, I guess for Spanish guitar style. I’m sure there’s a reasoning for these, but I can’t think of a good connection. Especially with the Granada.

Especially with the Granada.
Some ideas: The Gibson ES were Electric Spanish models, so Cordoba and Granada as Spanish cities fit to the X-50 model.
Capri CE-100: The dream holiday island in Italy, not Spain in that case.

The House of Stuart, originally Stewart, was a royal house of Scotland, England, Ireland and later Great Britain. One could think that the X-500 was a top of the line model, compared to the Epiphone "Zephyr De Luxe Regent". So maybe Guild was looking to make it the "royal" model.

Stratford? The X-350 was also from that same breed of high end models. Stratford-upon-Avon is the town of William Shakespeare. Maybe again they tried to connect the name with something high end.

The Manhatten X-175? Maybe the guitar for the masses and the working musicians? walrus said: "I'd think of the New York jazz scene."

The Savoy X-150? Named after the most prestigious Savoy Hotel in London?

Aristocrat M-75: From the aristocracy, the upper class of people I'd think.

I’ve wondered the same thing. Some X-500’s are Stuarts, some not. Waiting for Guild savant Hans to give us the definitive answer.

The question is what feeling would you associate with the name Manhatten?
