    Stringing a 12 String With 6 Strings

Before selling my last 12 string, I tri3ed playing it as a 10 string. No octave strings on the Bass E and A. I went to heavier single strings for the bigger low end sound. I liked the way the guitar sounded but it was still hard for me to fret the wide neck. My answer was to go with an 8 string...

    John Denver's Impact On Guild?

I am one of the people that gravitated to Guild because of John Denver. There are a lot of us in this category. With that said, John was drawn to Guild guitars because there were a lot of Folk Musicians playing Guild guitars when he first hit the scene. Martin guitars have a big connection with...

    Guild 8 String Baritone Update

I did take pictures and sent them to Cordoba. The cracks are very small right now. It is hard to see them but they are deep and will grow. I told the guy at Cordoba that I wanted a replacement guitar and they agreed to do that for me. It may be a long wait though.

    Guild 8 String Baritone Update

I had to send my 8 string baritone back to Cordoba due t5o cracks in the top of the guitar. The cracks are at each end of the bridge. Cordoba will make it right and replace the guitar. The problem is that they don't have any of them in stock. It will be sometime in November before they get any...

    String Choices for D55

Before I sold my D-55 last Spring, I was using D'Addario EXP Bluegrass Gauge strings on it. They sounded and played great.

    Guild Baritone Going Back

Mine is a very early model. I hope they have made improvements and I will get a replacement that won't develop the same problem. I really want to like this guitar.

    Guild Baritone Going Back

Took the Guild Baritone to Fedex today. I had to purchase a box from them because the guitar and case is too large to fit in a regular size guitar box. Guild/Cordoba prepaid for shipping but I had to come up with a box. I paid Fedex $22.00 for the box and to properly pack it. Not a bad price in...

    Guild Baritone Going Back

Hard to see. I can feel where the top is lifting at the crack.

    Guild Baritone Going Back

I purchased the 8 string baritone in March. Today, I noticed that there are two cracks in the top of the guitar at the edges of the bridge. They are small right now, less than 1/2" but they will most likely grow. I have kept the guitar humidified so that should not be the problem. Looks like...

Compare Guild American 12 String Guitars to Their Imports?

Guild 12 string necks became too much for me to handle a few years ago. That is why I purchased the Yamaha. It had a smaller and easier to play neck but it didn't have that "Guild Sound". How are the necks on the newer import Guild 12 string guitars, compared to the American builds? I...

Compare Guild American 12 String Guitars to Their Imports?

I like double pick guards on 12 string guitars. In fact, I am trying to contact Guild about getting matching guards for my Guild Baritone.

Compare Guild American 12 String Guitars to Their Imports?

Never seen a Guild import 12 string to play so I'm asking others here if they have. How do they compare to each other? What other brand 12 string sounds close to Guild's import 12 strings? I had a newer Yamaha LL-16-12 and while it was nice, it was missing something.

    D55almost therebut what about Bluegrass?

"Only the Bluegrass Special versions from Tacoma and New Hartford have adi tops." That makes them the best choice for Bluegrass.

    D55almost therebut what about Bluegrass?

John it isn't note separation. That is a good thing for Bluegrass leads. The problem with a D-55 for Bluegrass music is that the guitar is built for a lighter touch and does very well when played fingerstyle. When playing Bluegrass on a guitar, you strum quite hard in order to be heard in the...

    Reset time cost vs value

A 70's Martin D-35 is still worth about $2500.00. Well worth getting one in need of a neck re-set for around $2000.00. https://reverb.com/p/martin-d-35-1970-1984
