To be clear, the guitar in the ad *does" have the same headstock as New Hartford's Standard series. At least, I *think* that's a rosewood faceplate with the Standard tent logo. It does look like a gloss neck, though, and that was never true for the NH Standards.
It's still an easier pill to swallow than Oxnard calling an the jumbo mahogany model and F-40 instead of an F-48.Given that the ads are on both Sweetwater and Reverb, this probably is being called a Standard by Guild.
Maybe they just haven't gotten there yet, Chris. I guess we'll see.Disappointed about African rather than Honduran mahogany, but I understand that supply is not the same as it used to be.
And have they just abandoned the F-30?
I think Khaya is a really good substitute for Honduran. I can't tell the difference in sound. It all comes down to how it's built (admittedly a luthier can tweak the build, but factory guitars are built to a spec).Disappointed about African rather than Honduran mahogany
There really isn't any choice for the big guitar makers any more.I think Khaya is a really good substitute for Honduran. I can't tell the difference in sound. It all comes down to how it's built (admittedly a luthier can tweak the build, but factory guitars are built to a spec).
I wonder if a 12-string will be added. Using the F-40 and D-50 platforms would make sense for a couple of 12-string models."Celebrating Guild’s 70th anniversary, the new standard series heralds the greatest attributes of Guild’s history and rings in a new era of USA production."

Both of which, by the way, were part of New Hartford's Standard series (F-212XL Std, and G-312 Std, that is)I wonder if a 12-string will be added. Using the F-40 and D-50 platforms would make sense for a couple of 12-string models.
Will history repeat itself at Guild?!Both of which, by the way, were part of New Hartford's Standard series (F-212XL Std, and G-312 Std, that is)
