Sweetwater is getting them in now, too, in natural and antique burst.

This D-50 model is still not listed on guildguitars.com.
To be clear, the guitar in the ad *does" have the same headstock as New Hartford's Standard series. At least, I *think* that's a rosewood faceplate with the Standard tent logo. It does look like a gloss neck, though, and that was never true for the NH Standards.

Looking at the other ads at Sweetwater, the headstock looks black, so my comment about this aspect being the same as New Hartford is wrong. Having said that, if Guild wants to call it a Standard, who am I to argue? :)

Given that the ads are on both Sweetwater and Reverb, this probably is being called a Standard by Guild.

This post on Guild’s instagram now:

Introducing the Guild Standard Series, an all-new line of USA made acoustic models built in our Oxnard, California factory.

Featuring revamped D-40 and F-40 models and marking the return of the D-50, the Standard Series was developed to give the player a no frills, boutique quality USA made acoustic with a modern build and vintage sound.

With the new Standard Series, Guild is excited to debut the all-new Vintage Gloss finish, an ultra-thin nitrocellulose application with both satin and gloss qualities that highlight the natural beauty of the tonewoods. Featuring a smooth closed-pore texture and a hand sprayed soft, silky coating the Vintage Gloss finish gives each guitar a worn-in vintage feel and tone with a sleek, modern appearance.

Click the link in our bio to see the new F-40 Standard, D-40 Standard, and D-50 Standard models in Natural, Antique Burst, and new Pacific Sunset Burst finishes.

Yep. Just got the email announcement. Haven’t seen full specs yet, but the F40 appears to me visually to be the new style 17” jumbo, not the 16” true F40. Waiting to see.

Hope I get a chance to try a few of these out at some point! I bet Rudy’s will get some.

So, in all fairness to Guild, the New Hartford Standard series was an attempt (very successful) to add new finishing techniques including neck-off in the paint booth and various non-Traditional pore fillers, and varied satin-finishes. Headstock shape, etc., was only a small part of the formula, although, it does appear that Oxnard has gone with a different faceplate...

In any case, I think they are OK in my book calling these "Standard" series guitars. Good luck to Guild. I think these look great. If there are any major construction changes (neck joint, etc.) I hope they will be very clear and open about them. That is all. :)

Oh, and BTW, how about that new Sunset Pacific burst??! A little too red for my taste, but I still like it (and would buy one).

I’m just hoping they reintroduce some smaller bodied models, and at least one with a 1-3/4 nut width. I’m guessing there is a lot of competition in that space, but that’s what appeals to finger style players, older players who can’t handle larger models any longer, and the newer generation following Ed Sheehan’s lead in using small guitars.

Disappointed about African rather than Honduran mahogany
I think Khaya is a really good substitute for Honduran. I can't tell the difference in sound. It all comes down to how it's built (admittedly a luthier can tweak the build, but factory guitars are built to a spec).

There really isn't any choice for the big guitar makers any more.

I wonder if a 12-string will be added. Using the F-40 and D-50 platforms would make sense for a couple of 12-string models.
