This has been the most perfect summer weather that I can remember.

And here's the frosting on the cake: No mosquitos. I'm talking zero mosquitos. Don't ask me how we accomplished this because we are such a wet state. There is a pond behind my house that has previously been a breeding ground for mosquitos. I'm thinking maybe we had a frost at just the right time to kill all the larvae.

I'm not complaining.

Dred,
This has been the worst summer for mosquitos at my home in Charlottesville, VA, bar none. We are big gardeners, in the front and back of the house. So the presence of the plant beds surrounding the house will definitely encourage the mosquitos. Nevertheless, we've never seens such numbers of this annoying pest. You can't literally work in the garden without protection of all kinds. Ugh.

Here in NJ, no mosquitos this year for me. I usually get bitten every time I go out, but not this year. (y)

This was a disgustingly hot and humid summer here in NJ. I'm thankful for Fall.

Very hot and humid summer here in Southwest Florida too but I have not encountered many mosquitoes this year.

The summer down here has been the worst heat wise that I can remember. I have no gone outside for months, except when I have had to for errands etc. Got about another 3 weeks, then it's the best weather around for about 5 months.

Here in eastern MA, we had a very hot, but very dry summer, so a low bug count overall.

Ditto on the dearth of mosquitos. My daughter (does our yard maintenance and gardening) has remarked often that she hasn't been bitten this year.

Water standing for 48 hours or more becomes an acceptable breeding place for the mosquitos. Rainwater in an unmaintained swimming pool or a full but unmaintained swimming pool can get you cited by the city or county (not sure which) in the Phoenix area as they quickly become breeding areas.

Wood - by now you should have come to the understanding that there are only two seasons here - Summer and Simmer. Fortunately Simmer is almost over!! 😁😎

Woody, that's so weird because here in LV we had a really (humid) and mild August. I'm talking 3 weeks of temps under 100!! Those thunderstorms rolled through and we had enough cloud cover to really cool things off. Didn't you get any of that?? I mean 3 weeks under 100 in August? Wow!!

Well, I totally get that but in the furnace that is August, 94-98 is way better than 114-118? By 20 degrees? So, yeah I much prefer cold to heat but for that to happen, I'd have to move. And the great thing about sunshine is you don't have to shovel it. Best I can come up with.
