As I have both an X-80 and X-79-3….been wondering…
We know about 1,800 of the X-79’s we’re produced….I wonder (ballpark estimate), what percentage of those 1,800 were the Double HB with standard bridge, Double HB with Kahler and the three single coil version.
I would say 60-30-10 percent on those configurations on what I have seen over the years…thoughts?

Didn't some of the humbucker versions also come with a Hagstrom Tremar tailpiece?

On the various pricing sheets on X-79’s, only in 1983 was the X-79-3 listed…would that imply that was the only year they were produced? Does anyone have a serial # of the X-79-3 that is NOt 1983?
