Pink Floyd, 1977, Soldier Field, Chicago.

I was supposed to get a ride to the concert with some older guys who worked at the TV shop with me, but they decided at the last minute they didn't want a 15-year-old kid along and told me I couldn't come with them. So I bought a train ticket, walked from Northwestern Station to Soldier Field, and attended the concert by myself. The people sitting near me were appalled that my "friends" had stiffed me, and sort of took me under their wing. They were very generous; that's all I'll say.

As it turned out, the guys from work got a late start, and by the time they arrived, all the good seats were full. They had to sit behind a speaker and couldn't even see the band, whereas I had a great view of not only the band, but the giant projection screen above the stage, and the floating inflatable pigs and sheep.
Lucky you!! Animals is by far my fav era for Floyd. Sadly, only a couple very good sounding recordings of that tour even exist. What I would give to have witnessed that!

I love this story about the giant pig from the album shoot. Also some interesting insights about Roger Waters role in the group.

Given the enormous population in London the chances are incredibly high that multiple people were experiencing a chemically enhanced consciousness when they saw that pig. Imagine if at least one of them was also listening to Animals at the same time.

Some serious foreshadowing on the album cover! Imagine if the actual inflatable hovered by the Battersea power station!?!? :p

Sting, Worcester Centrum, 1985. Dream of the Blue Turtles Tour, and the band was fantastic.

Led Zeppelin, Buffalo Auditorium, June 10th, 1972. They opened with Immigrant Song and also played songs from the then unreleased Houses of the Holy. I was a Junior in high school and three Senior girls asked me to go.
Sweet!! Would you like a recording of it? 🧐

or here you go. The annoying tape drag stops around 8 min in so Immigrant is largely effected.:( After that it cleans up quite nice for an early bootleg.

72 Zep....along w/ Europe 73....their absolute pinnacle. Sir, you saw the best ever at their best ever!!(y)(y) Would love to hear more....and anyone else that saw early Zep..or Yardbirds w/ Page. Please...you can send your brief recollections in the conversation feature. I would greatly appreciate it. Your memories hold a significant value to those who live, eat, breathe this stuff.;)
