Let's see your stools. Here's mine and why I hate it.

Do you have a great guitar playing stool/ chair? Years ago I decided to get a dedicated music chair so I bought a Quicklock musicians chair. Here's a photo followed by the reasons why I hate it:

1 its too big, the footprint is bigger than the stool and the back sticks out. takes up space.
2 its heavy, hard to move. It folds but not flat unless you remove the seat, backrest and footrest. Not really portable.
3 its too tall at its lowest position to rest my feet on the floor. I have to put my feet on the foot rest then the rubber ends slide off
4 its loud. Seriously for a "musician's chair", I had this thing in my home studio and it creaks. You have to be careful to hold still if there's a live mic nearby

Who has the perfect guitar playing chair? I want to see it!

I play strapped up, sitting or standing, no lap or knee involved, so any armless task chair that's comfortable works great. What I'd love to find is a good armless outdoor chair.

Either/or. Got these on Wayfair website. I add a tush cushion sometimes for extra comfort.

This particular chair doesn't have recline/rock, but for a few bucks more some models do.

I have both the short (pictured) and the tall version. I tend to use them interchangeably.

The pros are that I can't slouch, there is nothing to bump into (arms or back), it rotates and it says Guild.

If it left the music room a con would be that it is difficult to transport but at this point I can still manage to play standing up when I am playing out.

I desperately need one (or three) of those. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one for sale.

Mine is just like frono's.

Before I started using a strap, I always sat down to play. Then when I put a strap on, I always stood up to play. Now that I'm getting old and decrepit, I'm sitting down again, with strap.

When I go to sing with the Alzheimer's folks for an hour, I absolutely need to sit down on my stool.

My experience with the "shop stool" type like the Guild stools above is minimal padding. The tall ones I probably couldn't work a pedal with. I am intrigued by the size of the short one. My bony butt needs good padding for sitting for a couple hours playing

I've got built in, natural(?) padding so the stool can get by with less. I don't use pedals but if I did only the short one would work. I have been known to lean on the tall one instead of sitting on it. I'm not sure I have the attention span to do anything for a couple of hours but I'd probably go between sitting and standing if I played for that long.

I made mine from scrapyard parts!

Can’t beat an old tractor seat. I like the engineering that went into the supports. Does that tension spring actually work? Cause I’d certainly need to tighten it up a bit after a few drinks whilst I’m playing my guitar.🥃🥃🥃🥴

Yes, totally functional and I've got it tightened down a good bit because leaning back with no back rest was hazardous. Those old farmers knew what they were doing; the seat is very comfortable.
Yep we had some painted up nice and welded to to a steel pedestal and leaf spring off a truck. Looked very cool and very comfortable. Spring was stiff but you could still move a bit up and down like it had air ride.

That bolt head and bracket in the middle if that tractor seat just doesn't look like it is in a good spot if you have hemorrhoids.
