Basically, it's a low volume 17" thinline. Pretty much unique to the Guild product line.

Yeah - they're a bit bigger than the Starfires and were higher-end guitars, too. Check out the catalog pages from 1964:

OMG, that's very helpful. Thank you to everyone for weighing in. Now, I have to control myself! Anyone want to trade a 1953/54 X-50 for a DE-500? Since I don't know how to play with a Guildsby, I'll probably pass. 😁

Maybe, maybe not. But the Ukes are a heck of a lot cheaper!
That's right, Chris. The asking prices of the DE's are astronomic. Though the specs suggest that the guitar is unique, and probably designed to suit Duane's twangy style of sound. I can't imagine I'm a player like Duane. Therefore, I should stay away from this one. :D

I'm very tall and and comfortable with 17" archtops.
Slimmer body electric versions seem to suit me quite well but there are few to choose from.

I once had a Gibson '57 ES-350T that was one of those but it had the Byrdland short scale.....that body coupled with a longer scale neck would have worked much better for me.
So with my Guild appreciation going on......I've always thought a Duane Eddy with beveled DeArmonds would be perfection....(but I'd lose the Bigsby....o_O)
And a DE can twang but it doesn't have to!

A big yes in my heart and mind, but way over budget these days.

Since Duane Eddy was an early inspiration to me as a guitarist--I saw him live in 1959--I would love
to have a DE-500, but they are out-of-this-world expensive!

It’s a trip how the copy goes on about the ‘anti hum’ pickups, but the pictures all show DeArmonds.

Were the T-500 and T-400 Guild guitars? I thought the DeArmond T400 was the closest thing to a DE-400.

... regarding the DeArmond T-400, as mentioned above by DeArmond Hammer - I happen to have owned one of these very nice instruments for a number of years now. My one has what they called the Crimson Transparent finish.

There mightn't be many videos on YouTube featuring this guitar, and there may be hardly any at all any of somebody actually playing one - but there is certainly only one single, solitary video in existence of someone ham-fistedly strumming along on one while simultaneously singing a daft country song about places he'd never been to, which he had only just written an hour or so earlier...

So, from about six-and-a-half years ago (and never dared to be repeated since!), here's the song, featuring the DeArmond T-400 guitar:
