A real legend has left us, who was not only a true genius, but a genuinely nice man, too.

Sad news. He was a real innovator.
And one who shared his knowledge freely with all who were interested, too. It must have been pretty sudden, because he was still posting regularly until about a week ago.

Well that is sad. He helped influence a generation of music.

Wow, this is fresh. Wikipedia doesn't even know he's gone. He partnered with Seymour Duncan to give us D-TAR along with a whole lot of other stuff. RIP, Rick.

Very sad. Surely a wealth of knowledge went with him. He was always great about answering questions people had on forums and online groups. RIP, sir. We salute you!

That is too bad. I had an idea of getting one of his guitars someday. I just couldn't find the need strong enough.

He was an absolutely lovely man...met him countless times at NAMM over the years both when he was working with others and when he had his own booth...he'd often work on instruments...amazing to watch...and he was always happy to chat about them...and teach...it's a great loss...I'd always hoped to have him update the antiquated electronics in my guitars...he would have...I just didn't have the funds.😢

I only know of him from Buckingham's guitar. I once went on a forum he was on often and he messaged me re a question I had and a point I was making about my Martin D-35 w the LL Baggs soundhole pickup and he couldn't believe I was not getting more feedback on stage when plugging direct into PA. I remember him remarking, "no way, that can't be possible as you are explaining it" LOL

really cool guy. I always appreciate it when big names who create instruments for other big names/stars are still willing to be available to anyone, just to help out.

I wanted a Model 1 because of that guy. Then I found used ones were not cheap.

Update: I think COVID has had a big effect on these guitars! Holy Cow. 5 grand and up for a used one!

are any of the model 1's made with a longer neck? looks like the Bucky has neck mounted at 14 or 15th fret. maybe that is part of the magical formula, but these guys are kinda small

Sad, very sad, but I do know that Rick Turner didn't care for Guild acoustic guitars. He felt strongly that they were "overbuilt". I guess that means too heavy. The man built a many a fine guitar though.
